  1. When I saw the title, I was secretly hoping this would be a spin-off to the werewolf movie Dog Soldiers. Of course, my hope of watching a horror movie with half-man, half-horse hybrids is still unfulfilled.
  2. This movie has supposedly been in development since I was a junior in high school. I will believe it's being made when I see a trailer for it.
  3. Malin Akerman to play the villainess in Rampage. It's also apparent that a chunk of the case from San Andreas (2015) is being brought on for this movie. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/malin-akerman-talks-play-villain-dwayne-johnsons-rampage-986675
  4. I know that I'm going to see it. I went to see San Andreas and had a good time, so I'm not worried about the quality.
  5. I think it will flop because Legendary has a questionable track record with original IPs. Their greatest successes came from movies about established properties (Batman, Superman, 300, Godzilla, etc.). Rare exceptions to this are Inception, Interstellar, and The Hangover films. Maybe Krampus, but that's hard to tell. It also depends on the budget. I could very well be wrong, but after Legendary's last China co-production and how it was supposedly troubled during development & filming, you'll have to forgive me for questioning its prospects.
  6. Honestly, I just see this being another colossal box office failure. The Rock brings money in, yeah. But it's been placed in a figurative war zone. I wish Legendary would stop funding flops and work on the few established properties that they have. Even if it's something unusual like Detective Pikachu. Their track record with original IPs is abysmal.
  7. A bit of an overstatement, I feel. I didn't feel terrified before, during, or after seeing it. But then again, reality is much scarier, and the film nailed that aspect perfectly.
  8. Yeah. I understand that. And the transition from 1993 TV series to 2017 Hollywood movie is still awkward as hell.
  9. If this looks anything like The Great Wall, I expect people to immediately turn their nose up at it. Lol, I just now looked at it. It's crammed in a weekend alongside Hotel Transylvania 3, The Nun, and the just recently shifted Amusement Park. Technically, this film would be attracting a different audience, but 2018 is already filled to the brim with noteworthy blockbusters. Never mind July.
  10. Seeing it again tonight, this time for a standard showing. A friend who works at the Marquee Cinemas near me said that last night's 3D screenings were sold out (along with Get Out). Would have loved to be there with that crowd!
  11. I'm not going to be soft here, but that had to be the least potent/offensive red band trailer I've seen for a motion picture.
  12. That spot gave me goosebumps for a split second, and then the fucking Megazord danced.
  13. Yikes....that's $321 million. So ideally, it would need more than $700 million just to break even?
  14. It's not just WB. Numbers for Logan and Get Out are not updated either.
  15. I'm wishing that they'd post the actuals for this weekend. Those zeroes are beginning to bother me.
  16. Kong: Skull Island has already topped Godzilla's final tally in South Korea. Very encouraging!
  17. I could totally see that work well. As long as they don't pull what they tried with The Mothman Prophecies (telling, not showing). If they do that, audience reception will definitely be mixed.
  18. Kong: Skull Island - 3D March 11th, 2017, 4:00 PM, 55% full Park Place Stadium Cinema | Charleston, WV Park Place seems to have changed their trailer allotment on weekend matinees....as there were only three this time. Trailers: Smurfs: The Lost Village (Trailer #1) - No laughter. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (Trailer #2) - One kid chuckled. Geostorm (Teaser Trailer) - Surprisingly, the audience was wowed by it. Mix of adults and teenagers. Very receptive crowd. Plenty of laughter, one observed jump scare. One guy said "Holy shit" when A lot of people left during the credits. A few people who did stay clapped during the post-credits sequence. I joined in.
  19. I expected a high 40's to low 50's before Friday. An extra $10 million is icing on this cake. It's a fun movie, and it doesn't pretend to be anything else but a blockbuster. That's a good opening!
  20. Saw it. After watching for news of this movie for three years, it was well worth the payoff. I had a lot of fun with this, and while it isn't as emotionally impactful as the original King Kong or the Peter Jackson remake, it doesn't try to imitate any previous films. It actually feels like a new addition to the franchise, instead of a rehash. I'm HAPPY that this movie exists! It's the King Kong movie I always wanted. And I'm going to throw it out there: It's better than Godzilla. The two are different films, but this movie was meant to be a crowd pleaser.
  21. Jake Busey has been cast. His father Gary played the role of Special Agent Peter Keyes in Predator 2. Maybe some sort of connection will be made between the two? http://deadline.com/2017/03/jake-busey-the-predator-natasha-rothwell-simon-vs-the-homo-sapiens-agenda-1202040454/
  22. I already knew PR wasn't going to be good, but the fact that Lionsgate is just letting this sit reminds me (for the umpteenth time) about how they handled Dredd. But that movie was actually good, so...
