  1. Slowly, but surely, promotion is popping up. (At least overseas.) The individual who took this photo lives in New Zealand.
  2. Yeah. I don't know why I wrote that. But since we're talking about Lego Batman, King Kong is making a brief appearance in that movie. Most likely a cameo. https://www.dreadcentral.com/news/212909/king-kong-will-appear-lego-batman-movie/
  3. It sort of does. Also, the more I think about this movie, the more I wonder how in the hell I went out of my way to see it. I typically don't go for cliched horror, but I went to see this one.
  4. Rings February 2nd, 2017, 7:00 PM, 15% full Regal Nitro Stadium 12 | Nitro, WV Trailers: Before I Fall A Cure for Wellness Get Out CHiPs Life Ghost in the Shell People laughed during the trailer for Get Out and CHiPs, and two guys in the very back row cheered for Scarlet Jo during the trailer for Ghost in the Shell. I don't think that anybody liked it. They certainly weren't scared.
  5. My worry is that Warner Bros. is pushing back Legendary's MonsterVerse into the closet in favor of their own properties. I've seen more marketing for The LEGO Batman Movie than I've seen for Kong: Skull Island. Edit: Apparently this is in Denmark...not the United States. Okay... Source: Vibe Kellermann (@vibe89)
  6. Actually, I've settled on something. It isn't good, and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. It's almost the same damn film as the previous films. The dumbest part is that It's trying to be a sequel....and a reboot at the same time. Somehow. It doesn't work well. Now that I've thought about it, it's a damn mess.
  7. It probably is. Horror movies are difficult for me to judge because nothing scares me anymore. So I judge them based on other elements such as plot, narrative structure, and acting.
  8. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. Some effort was put into the story, and there is a neat twist that was still executed sloppily. The acting and lame scare attempts were what weighed the film down. One interesting thing is that near the beginning of the film, the pacing was awkward. But it flows somewhat better in the middle. I think some scenes were cut for some reason. Either that or the writer didn't get a chance to iron out some things. Would I recommend it? Depends on the person. But I'm not sure who that person would be.
  9. Most of the Zords look nothing like the animals they are supposed to represent. Tyrannosaurus is the only one I can look at and say "Yeah, that's a t-rex." The Mastodon even looks like a spider, FFS.
  10. I have a free pass at one of the locally owned theaters. Considering seeing this with friends tomorrow. We are all aware that it is most likely going to be a steaming pile of shit. But that won't stop us from making fun of it.
  11. ....Jordan Vogt-Roberts isn't an "effects guy." His resume is mostly comprised of comedy films. The Kings of Summer is a coming-of-age film and Nick Offerman: American Ham is pure stand up comedy. Unless you're referring to his directing in TV, which only lists Death Valley as a potential show that necessitated effects work. Back when he was first announced as the director, people were scratching their heads because of his lack of experience in the science fiction and fantasy genres. Added note: Not even his writing and producing credits list any films that necessitate special effects work. Except maybe Mash Up. I haven't seen it, personally.
  12. Of all the movies that are being released in March, I forget that this one even exists. I thought Power Rangers was in bad shape, but now I know that isn't the case. Life, on the other hand is something that I don't see advertising for anywhere.
  13. I think that the only way it fails to leave a significant impact is if the cast is dreadful and there is only 15 minutes or so of Ranger/Zord action. It would probably suffer big drops if such a thing were to happen.
  14. If everyone else trusts him, I see no reason to doubt his claims. Still wish I knew where he got this information from, but I guess that's part of being outside of the loop.
  15. I can't say I'm surprised. It seems like a typical Warner Bros. problem with blockbuster films. As long as the quality of the film wasn't affected, I don't give a shit. Even if it did, I'm still seeing this on opening day, or a Thursday screening (provided that any of my loser theaters happen to show it; they've been letting me down lately).
  16. Toho must be very pleased with Your Name's performance. Even if it's knocked off the throne, I've lost count of how many times it's been #1 during its run.
  17. If he has close ties in the industry, that counts for something. I asked similar questions earlier, but rather than question the person who's been around the forums and developed a good reputation in the community, I asked how people were seeing the movie, knowing that no news of pre-screenings had filtered through official sources. It's nothing to get upset over. I'm not allowing it to affect me. If the movie had problems, they aren't obvious at this point in time. It's best to wait for the film and see whether the product was ultimately good or not.
  18. I saw the previous installments from video rentals and decided to see this in theaters because I felt I owed it that much. It was worth the ticket price because I knew what I was getting. It's an action flick, and nothing more. But I hope this franchise is allowed to rest in peace forever.
  19. I was asking to sate my curiosity, and not because I doubt anybody. There's been no news about screenings except for surprise showings from BNAT and similar events.
  20. What I want to know where this press is coming from. Where are people seeing these screenings? Are these tweets, or actual writings from film critics? And since when was production "troubled?" The instance with Keaton and Simmons was brushed off by industry sources as being due to scheduling conflicts and not much else.
  21. With that cast, I'd be confident too. Say what you want about Broderick, but his voice was made for animation. He's better at voice acting than live action acting. The others just sound like an interesting group to collaborate with. Didn't know Kenan Thompson was still acting, by the way. Good for him.
  22. Fifty years ago, this would have been true. It wouldn't be surprising in this decade if Godzilla ended up being more popular. A page ago I said King Kong is a damaged brand. Godzilla was damaged in 2004 in his own country because the franchise was losing money. Now he's made a huge comeback with a Hollywood reboot and the enormous money-making Toho reboot Shin Godzilla (it was the second highest grossing Japanese film last year, it made almost $2 million in a limited United States theatrical run, and it is winning many awards in its home country). Combine that with news of Michael Dougherty becoming the director for Godzilla: King of Monsters, and Kong is being pushed back into the closet despite all of the marketing. Case in point, this was trending yesterday: The Kong TV spots failed to break 10k discussions on Facebook. Of course, this does not account for people without social media, or those who don't know there's another King Kong movie nearing release. But the difference is jarring--especially when the above example is for a movie that's two years and two months away from release.
