The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo
YM! replied to grim22's topic in Numbers and Data
I think Toy Story 4 was the highest family film I tracked at North Shore with 12 tickets sold. The Lion King doubled that in about 2 hours. -
CAYOM Y6 - Official Discussion Thread
YM! replied to Ezen Baklattan's topic in Create A Year Of Movies (CAYOM)
I just need to get something off my chest: -
Both Frozen 2 and Shrek 5 have strong chances for $200M OW, a great Shrek 5 will rid the taste of 3/4 which tbh were forgotten amongst the late 90’s/early 00’s kids. The nostalgia for the first two Shrek is huge (which some hate for some reason but the admissions were ginormous, I think 2 is one of the most owned DVDs).

@cayommagazine Auli’l Cravilho (Moana, HSM: EvW) to write and sing an original song for Gateways titled “Opening of the Heart” which will play during the end credits. Gateways opens Q4 Y6, as the studio is trying to stake out the right date.

I’d still say the children would be something like:
-
I mean I would’ve understood if she was say 9-10 but it seems like at most a year pasted between TS3 and TS4.

Am I the only one kind of mad that Bonnie treated Woody like garbage when since TS3 and the two specials Woody was probably her favorite?

@Spaghetti HATED TS4 and @Blankments It is done. Jonny Jonny and the Long Ass Title Saturday, October 3rd, Y4 12:00 PM 20% full Audience: Mainly families which is odd for a PG-13 movie, despite a few teens high on edibles and a frisky couple buried wayyyy back in the cinema. I am also high as fuck too. Trailers: Food Wars - decent laughs from the audience Extreme Dinosaurs 2 - chatter from the kids. The high teens and I loved it. Kingdom of The Sun - the audience dig the Yzma centric trailer a lot, lots of cheers for the music and laughs. Should break out during the holidays. Guys and Dolls - mild chatter, some intrigue for the songs. Medusa - small chatter, the kids enjoyed and there is a loud moan heard from the back of the theater. Sir Thymes Time - mild chatter, laughs at the end Spark: Beyond The Sky - this got the best audience response. Laughs, cheers and chatter galore and a loud orgasm was heard from the young couple in the back. Movie: What a ride. By no means is it a good movie but it’s an otherworldly experience, while you can argue it’s the edibles, this was legitimately fun. Some of the little kids were scarred at a few moments as some of the adults were trying to figure out what the hell was going on, the teens were laughing and the couple left after finding out it wasn’t the showing for the horror film they were going to.

Sure I'll work on it now.

Can someone do a crowd report for some of our animated fare (ie, Amulet II, Can You Imagine, 2LBH, Medusa, or NOD?)

Again, TS4 until mid May when tracking inflated us, people were thinking $300M-$370M DOM with a $90M-$100M OW. Yes, I’m not denying it didn’t stack up to tracking but considering the slate of sequels dying this summer and the fact I think there was a lot of people questioning the necessity of TS4, a $120M OW is pretty good.

Again TS4 was never guaranteed to perform the same as Dory or I2. TS3 open 9 years ago, so those who saw it as kids are teens/adults now. Dory was arguably in much more higher demand as Nemo was 13 years before it. I2 benefited from no family film over $200M since Coco and only two over $100M and barely which allowed a family drought as well as the CBM craze. TS4 had three family films in the past 8 weeks, and while Pikachu and Pets 2 underperformed, Aladdin overperformed.
