  1. I have enough pancake mix to last for weeks.
  2. I had a lot of fun with this, mostly because I came to really like the characters. There's a lot of good dramatic moments in the film, but not necessarily a lot of good horror moments. I wonder if it would have worked better as a TV show (or something else longer form) where the plot could have been filled in a little, while allowing for more interactions between the characters. As it is, the final act in the Overlook feels tacked on, and it is weird that Rose doesn't even know about Danny's existence until 5 minutes before the movie's over. Rebecca Ferguson killed it in this, though. I wish she had a little more to do at the end.
  3. I do know that my neighbors have a cat named Ripley. Maybe I'll get one named Jonesy.
  4. I haven't, so I suppose I really have no idea what it's like. I think my feelings would be different if everything was opened up and I could do more things, but I guess I'm just worried about everything being boring and quiet all the time. I dunno.
  5. Not really. I'm a student, but most of my neighbors are families.
  6. My roommates are leaving this month, meaning I'm going to be by myself for the foreseeable future, and I'm starting to get pretty anxious about it. For anyone living alone that's been trapped inside due to COVID, how have you stayed sane?
  7. It's complicated by the fact that story leaks have been floating around for a while, and as a consequence, there are a lot of people that have been primed to hate it without even playing it. Obviously gameplay matters for a video game, however, there are story choices that seemed destined to be controversial. I'd say that, like TLJ, there are positives and negatives to discuss, but good luck finding any discourse that doesn't hyperbolically fly off the rails in one direction or the other. As someone without a dog in the fight, some of the rants can be fun, but, as always, have some perspective.
  8. Finally scratched Barry off my watch list. I feel like an emotional yo-yo right now.
  9. Just felt an earthquake in Boise for the first time in my life. I'm definitely leaning a lot more towards the coming Apocalypse theory now.
  10. Everything just feels so weird and uncertain right now. My university has now shut down through March, and I just cancelled my spring break plans. Looks like I'll be de facto quarantined the next two weeks, at least. And now watching March Madness looks like it will be a surreal experience. Interesting times, for sure.
  11. Does anyone think that the Heat are real contenders? And are the Rockets already out of contention?
  12. I want 10! They're great. So over-the-top at some points that they practically become Donnie Yen vs. Imperialism, but always enjoyable.
  13. Han is the best, and that's in a franchise full of charistmatic actors (and Vin Diesel).
  14. There's not a lot of actual detective work in Detective Pikachu.
  15. It's kind of a shame too, because you can use a lot of the same approaches in a post-hoc fashion, such as studying representation in media (I know the Geena Davis Institute does a lot of work like this), and it could be used to break out of a lot of conventions in storytelling. But of course it's always going to be the bottom line that gets optimized for.
  16. I didn't get into basketball until relatively late in Kobe's career, but he was always must-watch TV. I remember when he went a streak of 40-point games around 2012 or so, where every shot he hit was like a contested mid-range jumper. You could really tell how hard he worked at his game, and everyone respected that, even if you didn't like him personally. He was such an icon that we watched his final game instead of the Warriors going for the wins record. It was the right choice. He was so much fun to watch. RIP Kobe.
