  1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi December 17, 3:40 PM, 100% full Cineplex Scotiabank Theatre Chinook, Calgary AB | IMAX 2D Trailers: Ready Player One (no reactions) Alita: Battle Angel (no reactions) Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (murmurs) Avengers: Infinity War (ooooo's, OMG's and other excited reactions) There were a couple other trailers but they escape me right now. My crowd was pretty engaged. People were clearly antsy for the movie to start while the ads and trailers dragged on. There were laughs several times and there was a clear emotional response to a certain scene. Overall, a great theatre experience, but I would expect nothing less at a mega blockbuster like this.
  2. So I just picked up WOLF WARRIOR 2 for $15 at Wal-Mart. What made this movie so enormous in China? Is it a big franchise there? One thing is for sure, the Chinese love their mega action franchises.
  3. Interesting, however nothing that year compares to the size and popularity of Star Wars, which I think compensates a bit. There's an extra willingness to go see Star Wars on a non-holiday weekday compared to most other movies. Yes, ROGUE ONE dropped over 50%, but we all know there's a difference between that and saga films. That all being said, it's not like I'd be shocked or disappointed by a 50% drop. I could just see it being sub-50% for the reasons I mentioned.
  4. If Sunday's gross goes up a few million from estimates, I would say there's a shot at $30M on Monday. $30,483,000, for instance, is a 43.55% drop from a $54M Sunday.
  5. Nope, but I would think we will see a better drop than ROGUE ONE (53.3%). Halfway between the two would be a 43.55% drop. Does that sound about right to you guys?
  6. A-fucking-men! This is totally how I think as well. Sometimes the man can be a bit odd, and TPM and AoTC truly are not great films, but the man is still one of my heroes. The basis for all of this, the good and the bad, all comes from his mind and I'll forever be truly grateful.
  7. Really, really hoping SOLO moves to December. Not only are audiences loving Star Wars in general, but you get the feeling they're embracing it as a Christmas tradition. Everyone I know knows well ahead of time they'll be going to see Star Wars at Christmas time. It just seems agiven.
  8. In all seriousness, these Saturday estimates make me so happy! Seems like it's actually playing just like TFA, with the exception of having smaller previews. At this point, today could still surprise us and end up with the Saturday record!
  9. Yep, this is exactly what I was thinking as soon as I walked out of the movie. I need time to process it and I need to see it again. It was definitely different, which means as a hardcore Star Wars fan it can be distracting, so watching it a second time presents an opportunity to watch it having gotten that out of the way.
