There is hope that it can stay fresh, though all the reviews so far being on the 3-3.5/5 level definitely indicate that quite a few negatives are coming.

By heard a lot I mean I heard from friends at Sundance and Berlinale lol (I was supposed to go to the latter but had to cancel), but yeah that MC is good too.

Heard a lot about this, hopefully it doesn't take too long for it to come out.

I find it very hard to believe that it would be boring, if Wan is inspired by campy Mario Bava again though I can definitely see why an unsuspecting test screening audience would be turned off.

Got out about an hour ago, I sadly think it's a miss despite a solid opening with dumb Scandinavians in the wild. Most of the setup is a lot of short disjointed scenes with hit or miss jokes, and not a lot of bear or cocaine. We're asked to keep track of about a dozen characters and there's not a lot of wit in the script to keep the pace up. There's a very funny scene around the middle involving an ambulance, but mostly it's rare that it got a laugh out of me (or anyone else at the screening). I prefer goofy creature features like this with dumb looking puppets or guys in costumes. It reminded me a little of Zombeavers from a few years ago, and I wasn't even particularly a fan of that movie but I wish Cocaine Bear had more of that movie's low budget shitty puppet charm. The movie then ends on a whimper of a third act, so I didn't really get much out of it despite really getting into it in the first 5-10 minutes. I was at least happy to see that Elizabeth Banks plucked the opening song from Wet Hot American Summer, it certainly set the tone right.

Seeing this tomorrow, I've been out of the loop so no idea what to expect.

Haven't encountered it myself yet but it's definitely out there on twitter. I did see one tweet about the leak with a video that had been removed by Paramount, so they're already out there trying to get rid of them.

A massive spoiler has gotten out there so watch out.

This just means more critics have addes their scores and it went up a little. It's still not positive, in fact it's pretty damn spot on with the RT and MC score relative to where other similar movies are.

About what? I'll see it eventually but I did miss a screening today and the reactions that have come out don't exactly fill me with confidence in the film.

Am missing a screening atm cuz I was too busy to go, these excited reactions sure make it seem like I'm missing a lot.

As wildly as I would disagree, they're not exactly far off on Rottentomatoes or Metacritic.
