  1. This article is from yesterday. It talks about Little Miss Flint raising money to buy tickets for school kids, and how they did the #BlackPantherChallenge for the first movie. So bulking buying shouldn’t send up red flags for this.
  2. Anyone doing NANOWRIMO this year? I am gonna do it, and didn’t know if someone wanted a motivation buddy.
  3. I won’t lie, everyone kept talking about the power of the dog and I was like are you talking about that Tatum movie… And then I realized different movie 😂😂
  4. Actually, the end of Infinity War is way harder for me now. Cause when I watched it the first time, I was full on KNIVES OUT... and then they dusted T'Challa. And oddly enough, that's what I was like "Oh, okay, they're gonna fix this. It's gonna be okay. Cause we're gonna have two more movies and three more Avengers sequels with him." Knowing that I kind of let go, and just allowed myself to kind of reveled in the audacity of what they were doing. But now none of that is true ALSO: FOLKS, C'MON. NO SPOILERS/LEAKS TALK.
  5. This And speaking of funerals, I assume that because of COVID we’re not gonna get some Tony’ funeral, where we get everyone showing up in that scene to pay their respects. Which, as a fan, I find so profoundly disappointing, because that’s how it always is in the comic books when someone big dies. From a Watsonian POV, you can hand wave it as the Wakandans don’t want anyone in their country. But from a Doylist POV, this just sucks. It took 20 years between Silence of the Lambs and Get Out for a horror movie to get nominated for Best Picture. Just because it hasn’t happened in a while, doesn’t mean it won’t happen. PS/Mod Note: can we lay off the anti-Grace talk? it doesn’t feel constructive, it just feels mean. The best thing to do with her, is to just ignore her existence.
  6. I just saw it. Absolutely hated it. I was raging texting to my friend, who replied: “It sounds like something an Anonymous Oscar Ballot will say “turned I the screener off half-way through, but I am voting for Cate anyway.” Also saw Woman King. Phenomenal. Shame that it peaked too early, but I would say we should just drop Best Supporting Oscar off at Lynch’s house right now. (Angela is still waiting on the wings, but we haven’t seen the full performance yet!) ETA: I was so frustrated by this. Because I like the subject matter. I was perfectly fine following all of the conversations they were having. It just felt so dry. It felt like something that I would listen to off a YouTube video while I was playing the Sims. Also, for a movie that is supposedly about a conductor, I found the sound and score shockingly uninspiring.
  7. I know the Oscars aren’t one of those things were once you get one, you never get another one. Yet, I can’t help feeling like why is there excitement for Cate to win again? She has two. I have not watched the movie yet. Perhaps it is an undeniable tour de force. And I’m definitely excited to watch it. But I can’t help thinking that theoretically there should be more excitement behind Yeoh or “someone else who is over due and “deserves” it.
  8. Bestie and I were legit just talking about this in regards to the movie. When I used to track my local theaters, they were basically dead for presales. Very walk up heavy and only Thursday IMAX sold before like the T-2 day mark. I just checked tickets sold for the IMAX screen for the weekend: Thursday: 140 Friday: 142 Saturday: 89 Sunday: 33 Again, I have not tracked the theater and like a good six months, but unless things did a radical 180 in that time, that is incredibly spread out for where sales are normally, and particularly for a Marvel movie. My friend and I were contemplating that with this being such an emotional affair, it feels like something you are would to forgo seeing it opening night — If that means we can all go together as a group on Saturday morning. Totally just personal thought, but I don’t think I’d go see the movie alone. I feel like I want this to be a communal feeling. And not everyone is available on Thursday night to make that happen.
  9. @Ericstein's Monster I legit was coming in to post this after I saw the thread title. LOL someone needed to cheat that up.
  10. Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. I hope he fully recovers.
  11. This is gonna be brutal in the theater. ETA: brutal, and the Sons of got wrenching, emotional and incredibly difficult to get through without crying, not bad. Before people jump on my post.
  12. Never. It's like Bruno. We're just not gonna talk about the movie, and then we can pretend that it doesn't exist, and T'Challa never dies. (We'll open it sometime in November. Probably the Weekend/Monday before release)
  13. Oh God I thought LLC was gonna ruin everything. Phew.
  14. I have only watched the Ashoka episodes but OH HELL THERE, PERFECTION. I HAVE MIIIISSSSSSED YOU.
  15. Win win, really. No more Marvel for him and the fanboys seems happy. As for me, To quote the Anonymous WWE Source on CM Punk to AEW: “He’s your problem now.”
  16. We went Monday at 12:15. Between that, our old population, and the rain, we had a packed theater.
