    70 didn’t seem that ambitious? Spectre was so long ago it’s a dubious IM comp but I guess off the cuff I’m expecting like, x9? But yeah, I could see a larger day 1 buying core group of invested than venom has, so let’s see how the next few days progress.

    Didn’t have high hopes for NTTD, but these sales are kind of popping off. Is there maybe a more dedicated fan base than assumed — Spectre’s PS run could be a clue if we have any data for it. If not, could be cool to see this take down F7 and maybe even go higher on the charts.

    So, I know that people like these movies and like seeing them on the big screen. I’m not hoping for them to go extinct or anything. But… strictly speaking… do theaters need them? If adult dramas were permanently down like 50% vs pre-pandemic and superhero movies were up like 15% it’s pretty conceivable that theaters would come out ahead financially.

    Apparently this will be just O/U the best 3rd wknd hold in the mcu (IM1 -37.8%). It’s a tough target but I would love to beat TROS 4th weekend.

    Weeekend quite as expected, except family movies trucking along a little stronger. Will do a sep % analysis tomorrow, for now some projected totals: JC 2m wknd, 112.5 cume, 2.8M week, low 120 finish FG 5M wknd (easily a record), 108.4 cume, 6.8M week… 130 finish? SC 22 wknd, 177 cume, 32.5 week, ~240 finish depending on how it stands up vs competition

    Free Guy actually just missed the biggest post-pandemic 4th and 5th weekends (losing to AQP2) but looks poised to nab the biggest 6th. Of course it will probably lose it 3 weeks later, but them’s the breaks 😛

    Yeah this is much tamer than Gunn, and not going to cause any harm like e.g. Letitia's recent comments. An apology seems very likely, but SC2 wasn't coming until like 2024+, don't see this being an issue with staying power. More curious how it plays vis a vis 2021 china release, but didn't have too high hopes there anyway.

    So national ATP is gonna be a little dicey perhaps. When we get ATP from the next keyser update that will be pretty useful though given the wide coverage.
