Black Widow | July 9 2021 | ScarJo secures the bag from Disney

That’s a you problem mate. Fine personal impression to have, but it doesn’t seem too relevant to the conversation we were having? -

The winter soldier and GotG are way more different than two members of more serialized single genre franchises like Potter or Bond. I mean, I know it seems so simple you don’t even think about it, but having different lead characters (vs always being an English wizard chosen one boy, or always a suave and competent English spy, etc) goes a long way toward differentiating entries and preventing fatigue/oversaturation/interest burnout. -

They’re all superhero movies, but they’re a spy thriller superhero movie, a martial arts superhero movie, etc. That variety is obviously part of what keeps them fresh. -

If there’s no fatigue, is it really oversaturation? Arguably just saturation. -
Drop vs last week: F9 n/a AQP2 -33% PR2 +5% (!) Cruella -15% HWB -40%

It’s 24% down from Mon, H&S was 21%. Not great, not terrible. looks like Tu-Th will be ~16M, that is below what wrath, Jat, or I had when we were sketching some runs out.

It’s actually pretty easy not to do anything logic breaking (which is part of why it’s so depressing for me when creators just fail to do so anyway). All you need to do is go with a many worlds version where traveling through time creates a new timeline, or have a single universe/timeline where things are self-consistent. Endgame was using the former, though certain dialogue about the infinity stones muddied it more than I would have liked. Loki, so far, is just an absolute mess — but it’s not too late for the final two episodes to reconcile things with many worlds as long as some key TVA claims are revealed as self-serving misdirection.

This isn’t really true. Time travel can be done perfectly logically, in multiple ways, and the fact that most sci-fi properties fumble it (because the creators don’t care and correctly believe that the casual audience won’t really care either if it’s all a bunch of illogical BS) doesn’t negate that. Endgame was able to handle time travel without any continuity breaking issues, and it’s not too much to ask that future properties in the MCU maintain that.

Obviously True Fri PSm will be lower, but so will Th PSm (that is to say, final preview sales divided by Th PS on beginning Th). If they’re lower by a similar %, the ratio is still useful. Now, if Fri PSm for MCU tend to fall short of FF FRI PSm by more than their Th PSm, we would get a lower true fri than that comparison suggests — which is what I expect, actually. 168/237 is 71%. F9 TFri was some 3.2x Th, 71% of that would be 2.25x Th. But still expecting more like 1.8x. -

This looks like a pretty solid ratio given F9’s performance. -

http://www.boxofficereport.com/previewgrosses.html the numbers also shows the previews in their daily gross chart for most movies now, which is a nice quality of life change but not exactly what you’re looking for. -

Seems pretty much as expected. “Taskmaster sucks, Yelena is awesome” is worse than both being awesome, but leagues better than “Taskmaster awesome, Yelena sucks.” -
