  1. This would be simpler in the “only movies” era. With WV and Loki connecting to DS2, and D+ needing a steady supply of high value IP content, I imagine all the calculations they have to balance get really tricky and I have no clue what the outcome is.
  2. I guess my new vote is: whatever 10 films manage to open
  3. BW’s release date is uncertain, but it is certainly not May 1
  4. I think IMAX could show flexibility in rejiggering their slate to accommodate new spots in an unprecedented situation like this.
  5. The huge Fast delay had nothing to do with China. Chinese market is on track to recover months before DOM+Europe
  6. There are rumors of interconnection between BW and F&WS at least to a small degree. Then WV-Loki-DS2 are all connected, how knows what Eternals or Shang-Chi might have been connected to, etc. Having 10 interwoven projects that you planned in a certain order gets really funky when a once in a generation exogenous event like this is wreaking havoc on both your release windows and production schedules.
  7. That wasn’t directed at you Talking about the FilmBuff, KJsooner types who were in hardcore denial about the virus seriously affecting the BO
  8. Yeah, every studio had a kind of stupid response by wasting marketing cash delaying now instead of 10 days ago. But they weren’t dumb enough to go through with the ultimate mistake of keeping the movies put, which is what many on this board were screaming was the best financial decision as recently as.. *checks notes*... yesterday.
  9. WOW, F9 started presales more than 450 days before it’s release!
  10. How strange. I could have sworn I was told in no uncertain terms that it was too late to delay because of all those marketing costs 🤔 I guess professionals do understand the sunk cost fallacy more than random internet armchair theoreists.
  11. Well, I mean, what other Thursdays are even in contention? Usually dailies are pretty predictable, and Thurs the most out of any. July 4 effect is more interesting than normal Thursday, christmas effects, big Thurs opener, big Thursday previews, but none of those are as interesting imo as an exegenous shock of unknown size 9/12 came to mind as a winner if it has been Thurs, but it was Weds.
  12. Are you planning to keep tracking? What’s the point? These movies won’t come out til who knows when and they’ll be useless comps to anything.
  13. If I was sure, I wouldn’t be as interested in the dailies as I am
  14. Seems like country woke up to covid finally. Tom Hanks+sports cancelled+Trump fiasco conference
  15. Tomorrow may be the most interesting Thursday drops in the history of cinema.
  16. This is from March 5-7. It’s not worth the pixels being used to display it.
  17. Yep, it would be a-okay. People are way too sensitive about MCU movies being close to each other, there’s really no reason to think it would be a negative as long as they’re at least a month or so apart.
  18. BW Nov 6 Eternals Dec 18 Shang-Chi Feb 12 would work fine, if things come to that.
  19. Country finally waking up. This, Mulan, F9, Trolls, several smaller movies will be gone within 5 days.
  20. It is basically the same. 14 day difference between the weekends in question. US is less than 14 days behind Italy, with a worse response. The fact that people can’t put 2 and 2 together is increasingly depressing me.
  21. Sure, but pretending that both are possible is pretty insane at this point. Wondering whether AQP can open well is like wondering if there was a good box office in Italy last weekend.
  22. Bob’s scheduling and resignation timing vis-a-vis 2019-2020 was godly.
