Way to put words in my mouth. I’m just pointing out that you guys have a tendency to get carried away when it comes to Marvel movies. You predicted that MoM and L&T would claim the May and July records respectively, and iirc, you’re currently claiming that WF could see a $250 million OW. Maybe it will see a 20-40% increase, but you seem to be treating it as if it’s a sure thing.

It’s so self-contradictory too. Zaslav wants to keep things cheap, but he also scoffs at the notion that WB should maintain a good working relation with a director who consistently gets films finished on time and under budget? Furthermore, how does he not realize that in Hollywood, being friends with people is actually very important? Connections are everything in the industry. Anyone who’s been involved in it can tell you that.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Zaslav tries to make the Phillipsverse the main DC movie universe moving forward. It was already reported a while back that he wants Phillips to take on an advisory role for future DC films, despite his lack of knowledge or interest in the greater DC Universe. He probably thinks Phillips is a good candidate to be DC’s Kevin Feige.

Disney+ actually spends money on their content. They don’t rely on cheap reality shows to draw people in. If Zaslav wants to mimic the Disney model, he’d have to put actual time and money into his company’s content, which he clearly isn’t interested in. Of course, trying to mimic Disney was always a stupid idea. It was stupid when AT&T tried it, and it’s even stupider now that Discovery is trying it.

HBO Max was never going to be up there with something like Disney+. WB simply doesn’t have the resources to compete with the company that owns Disney Animation, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and The Simpsons. Zaslav is out of his mind if he thinks dropping all their scripted content is what the service needs.

Gunn’s SS not only had the misfortune of being a follow-up to widely disliked movie that was released five years earlier, but it also had pretty subpar marketing, and unlike the first movie, which banked heavily on Will Smith and the Joker, there weren’t really any big hooks it had going for it. That’s on top of the day and date release. Also, the title might not have done it many favors either.
