  1. It’ll only stop when people like Ben Shapiro, Jordan Peterson and all these culture war YouTube channels stop making money from nerd outrage.
  2. This is bound to take the November record, but I’m not convinced at this stage that it’ll match or exceed the first one.
  3. Is it fair to pin at least part of the blame for this on Bob Iger? He seemed very insistent on making sure Disney filled their yearly quota for all their major franchises.
  4. The cultural impact argument has been done to death. There’s not much of a point in continuing to bring it up.
  5. Why even stick with his pitch if they’re just going to ask him to change it? It’s not like Coates is a must-have for a project like this. To the best of my knowledge, he’s never even written a screenplay before, and even when it comes to his work in comics, he’s never written for Superman.
  6. I wish they would at least tell us what the hell is going on with that Ta-Nehisi Coates project. That thing was announced over a year ago, and we’ve had practically no updates, other than some vague claims from the supposed scoopers. Is it moving forward or not?
  7. I know I’m late to the discussion, but regarding the earlier posts about whether or not Avatar qualifies as a geek property, I don’t think the franchise has quite reached that point yet. It’ll definitely get there if this movie proves to be a hit, and the franchise continues churning out comic books, toys and video games, but as of right now, I don’t think it has enough of a history to be compared to things like Marvel and Star Wars.
  8. Lupita has the star power to be the next Black Panther, but from a story perspective, Shuri probably makes more sense. Unfortunately, I was never really a fan of Shuri or Letitia Wright’s performance to begin with, and it has very little to do with her real life behavior. I just never found Shuri particularly endearing. I mostly just associate with her with that dumb Vine reference from the first movie. From the looks of it, this movie is gonna try and show off her more dramatic chops, so I guess we’ll see how she fares.
  9. At this point, I’d be willing to settle for them giving Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman his own movie. Something is better than nothing.
  10. It’s not like WB was able to show off much to begin with. Promoting The Flash at this stage would be pretty awkward, and a large chunk of the Internet still has an obsessive hate-boner for Amber Heard, so there’s a good chance that if they showed footage for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, it would be met with boos from the audience, just like when they booed the Rock for suggesting that Henry Cavill probably isn’t coming back. Besides, supposedly, WB didn’t even want to attend Comic Con this year. They apparently only showed up because the Rock insisted on it. That’s why they only promoted the New Line movies.
  11. I don’t understand why they would be holding out hope for him at this point. It’s been five years. They should just forget about the DCEU and do a stand-alone Superman trilogy.
  12. Ryan Coogler made it clear that he was completely unaware of Chadwick Boseman’s illness. The movie was very much supposed to have T’Challa as the main character.
  13. I don’t even think there’s much more to do with the character after NWH. What is there left? Ned becoming the Hobgoblin? Flash Thompson becoming Venom?
  14. James Cameron wanted to push the boundaries of motion capture technology. That’s why it took so long for the Avatar sequels to get made.
  15. I would much rather he be shelved, but Sony will probably want to milk him for as long as possible. I guess it largely depends on whether Holland himself wants to keep doing it.
