That wasn’t the only movie he worked on. I was referring to stuff like Dawn of the Dead (2004) and Super. Anyway, it should be noted that the live action Scooby Doo movie was actually supposed to be a raunchy parody of the franchise, before WB insisted on toning it down for kids. Even then, the movie wasn’t devoid of some dirty jokes that you wouldn’t expect from the Scooby Doo franchise.

If nothing else, Sonic has probably always been a more talked about franchise than most of the properties over at Nintendo. Sure, the games don’t do as well as a lot of the stuff that Nintendo puts out, but they’ve always been more fascinating to discuss (for better or worse) than something like the Mario franchise.

Why do you say it will do well in Japan? Not only do American adaptations of Japanese properties often not do well over there, but Sonic has never been all that popular in Japan to begin with.

How many people still watch the anime compared to the number of people who still play the games? The anime exists to promote the video games, not the other way around.

It’s a stretch to say that most people think of the anime when they think of Pokémon. The Pokémon franchise makes most of its revenue through games and merchandise.

Never mind. People involved with the film have said that it will be more of a comedy. I’m gonna be honest here, I can’t say I have much interest in that. I’m pretty tired of goofy R-rated superhero movies at this point.

The low ratings aren’t surprising. The show dragged on for way too long. The Academy needs to get the message that people don’t want to spend three and a half hours watching an awards show.
