The general argument is that these rich people need to do more to help those struggling because of this pandemic than singing a cover of a John Lennon song on social media. Granted, that is a fair point, but it is pretty silly that some dumb video of celebrities singing would spark Twitter outrage, but that’s just how the world works nowadays.
Well, this movie does take place before Infinity War. Still, I’d have to assume there would be some kind of “present day” mid or end credit scene that’s supposed to set up a future movie or two.
Unfortunately, the odds of it meeting its current release date are looking less likely now. Still, it would be pretty awesome if this ended up being the first real big release in two months.
If this movie does go straight to streaming, it seems more likely that it would be dumped onto Hulu. Still, I keep hearing rumors that the movie is contractually obligated to be released to theaters.
The unfortunate thing is that the decision to move this film out of December was done before the Star Wars franchise had taken a hit in popularity. All things considered, WW84 probably could’ve done just fine with its initial release date. Hell, the Jumanji sequel ended up taking that date, and it did pretty well for itself.
By the way, it’s interesting how BW wasn’t delayed as well. Maybe Disney figures that they can afford to take the risk with an MCU movie? Then again, we still have a month and a half to go.
Forget about the end of the world depicted in these movies. I think we’re living in a real apocalypse right now. The Mayans were off by less than eight years.
This is starting to sound like WB’s answer to Ralph Breaks the Internet, which is kind of lame. I can only hope that there’ll at least be more hand-biting humor in this case, since WB is generally less obsessed with maintaining a squeaky clean image compared to Disney.
But if they move all these movies to later dates, what about the movies that are supposed to be coming out in 2021? Would the Matt Reeves Batman movie have to get pushed back as well in order to accommodate for all the movies being released in close proximity to it? I wouldn’t want that.
