  1. The day an MCU movie goes straight to streaming would be the day movie theaters officially kick the bucket.
  2. That seems like it would be a little too ambitious for a Doctor Strange movie, but after how big IW/EG went, I suppose that the only way to top that would be to do some big multiversal crossover.
  3. It’s not just Twitter. Other high profile people like Joe Rogan have been calling her out for it as well. It seems like Gadot really miscalculated here.
  4. I was talking more about the people who have been mercilessly mocking her for the Imagine video. It seems like it’s going to take a while before she can live that one down.
  5. Someone else brought this up after that video she did last week. I just mentioned this now because it just occurred to me that she seems to be a magnet for controversy. And I don’t see how that’s a non-sequitur, considering that she’s the star of this movie.
  6. Damn. It’s occurred to me these past few days that people really hate Gal Gadot. It probably won’t impact this film in any meaningful capacity, but she’s really become a punching bag lately.
  7. Speaking of which, it’s still pretty fascinating to look at the demographics of people who saw the first one in theaters. The audience was not only older than what you’d typically see from a superhero movie, but it was more female skewing than something like CM, and it wasn’t even marketed as an especially feminist movie. In hindsight, considering how unusual the audience for the movie was, it’s not surprising that the success of the movie didn’t carry over to JL. A lot of the people who saw WW weren’t the people who typically show up for superhero movies.
  8. Jumanji most likely wouldn’t have moved to that date if WW84 was still scheduled for it.
  9. I’m gonna say it again, they should’ve stuck with that December 2019 release date.
  10. I don’t. It’s just the pessimist in me. Anyway, it’s bold of WB to assume that this whole thing will blow over by August, but we’ll see.
  11. This ought to be a nice feel-good movie to watch when you’re in quarantine.
  12. I’m not necessarily saying that there will be zero movie theaters before the end of the decade. Just that I think they probably won’t be an important money-making venture for studios anymore.
  13. Nah. Nothing can be worse than that. Except maybe for that $100 million OW club for BoP...
  14. I wasn’t talking about the death of superhero movies. I was talking about how streaming and Video on Demand seem to be replacing cinema. It’s well documented that movie theaters have been struggling for a while now.
  15. Movie theaters are going to virtually be dead by the end of the 2020s, if not sooner. That’s my prediction.
  16. But not to the extent that they do now. Believe me, I’d hate for movie theaters to just die out, but we can’t beat around the bush. Cinema was already in a difficult place with the advent of streaming and VoD, but now it has a worldwide pandemic to deal with. Things are not looking good.
  17. Are any of the X-Men films on Disney+? I’d have to assume a Hulu release would be more likely.
  18. People have talked about how movie theaters have been struggling for the past several years. It’s not really a stretch to imagine that this pandemic could be the nail in the coffin.
