  1. I don’t know if I’m looking forward to people inevitably wanting Gerwig to direct the Supergirl movie. I’m pretty sure people on Reddit are already expecting that.
  2. It gets more and more clear by the day that they really do want the strikers to lose their homes.
  3. I actually am starting to worry that Barbenheimer might not do this movie’s legs any favors.
  4. It’s not even like Thor 4 was explicit. Valkyrie’s attraction to women is acknowledged in a conversation that would get dubbed over anyway, and a brief scene where she kisses a woman’s hand. Anyway, did Malaysia ban AtSV? Edit: I guess I forgot about Korg and his male partner at the end. That movie isn’t very memorable.
  5. Isn’t that new diversity rule for Oscar eligibility so broad that it doesn’t even make much of a difference?
  6. Meh. It still looks fairly typical in terms of modern sci-fi.
  7. Who is responsible then? It was Iger’s idea to pump out so many of these Disney+ shows, not Chapek’s.
  8. What would it take for the AMPTP to throw their hands up and agree to a negotiation?
  9. Streaming was always intended to be a major part of the company moving forward. That was why we got all those expensive Marvel shows on Disney+. Iger was trying to compete with Netflix, and it didn’t work out. It was a very shortsighted strategy on his part. People liked to praise Iger for how successful Disney was during his initial run, but they forget to mention that a key part of that success was all the acquisitions he did. It was great for short term profits, but not so much in long term. His strategy of releasing a new Star Wars film every year quickly fizzled out, and now even Marvel is not the unbeatable juggernaut it was five years ago.
  10. I had a feeling back in 2019 that this emphasis on streaming was going to eventually backfire on Disney. People always gave Bob Iger too much credit.
  11. As far as ZSJL is concerned, physical copies of it do exist, so at the very least, even if it gets pulled from Max, it wouldn’t become lost media.
  12. This was supposed to start filming early next year, so assuming the strike ends by Fall of this year (which is looking like the optimistic scenario), then I assume production could still be on track.
  13. Bumping this up an entire six months while it still had a lot left to film was an odd choice. I guess they figured it was going to be the much bigger movie, so it deserved the coveted May spot, but does it ultimately make a difference if it’s released later in the Summer?
  14. It’s pretty remarkable that Bob Iger has damaged his own reputation better than Ron DeSantis could ever have hoped to do. Do these CEOs honestly believe they’re the ones with the difficult jobs?
  15. In other words, even though WB was trying to spite Nolan, they inadvertently ended up helping his movie.
  16. It would be pretty weird if the budget somehow spiraled out of control when Nolan is known for getting films made on time and on budget.
  17. I see we’re at the stage where people argue about how much a movie needs to make to not be a flop/breakeven/whatever the buzzword is. What fun!
  18. I don’t think she was implying she read the script. Of course, as I said, she could be wrong, like she’s been many times before.
  19. He ran a Super Bowl ad for the damn thing. Stuff like that definitely inflated the marketing budget, which would only serve to exacerbate their losses. Don’t forget the 50,000 “fan screenings” they did for it. You have no evidence to support your claim that the movie would’ve made even less money if they didn’t keep insisting it was this genre defining masterpiece.
