  1. I'm confused - you have Monday and Friday being flat, but HOBBIT 2's 2nd Friday was 1.39x its 1st Monday, and its 3rd Friday was 1.28x its 2nd Monday.
  2. With entirely too much time on my hands during winter hiatus, I took Jat's Monday range and extrapolated 2nd weekend numbers based on THE FORCE AWAKENS (i.e., TFA made $40,109,742 its first Monday and $49,325,663 on Friday, giving that day a 1.229 multiplier). If Monday is $28 million... Friday (*1.229): $34,412,000 Saturday (*1.414): $39,592,000 Sunday (*1.075): $30,100,000 Weekend: $104,104,000 If Monday is $30 million... Friday: $36,870,000 Saturday: $42,420,000 Sunday: $32,250,000 Weekend: $111,540,000 Even with considerably worse multipliers (TFA's first Friday was Christmas, for example), I think anyone looking for a devastating second weekend drop is gonna be a little disappointed.
  3. I only have my phone at the moment, so someone please correct me if I’m wrong as I can’t hunt for data - if TROS makes $28-30M today, it should make at least that on Friday, no? I just don’t see how a catastrophic drop is possible with the calendar layout and that sort of Monday number.
  4. And yet, at the time, people ragged on HARRY POTTER for hitting its ceiling early. It's amazing what a little time and perspective adds.
  5. What you guys are failing to take into account is that $48 million would be double SOLO’s Saturday and is thus a great number. #reaching
  6. The world is full of agendas. Shocking, I know. For example, a fella called Doomcock (lol) asking people on Thursday night for pictures of empty seats in TROS screenings? He’s hedging his bets. If TROS disappoints, it’s “Haha Disney, look at all those empty seats!” If TROS performs well, it’s “Disney is rigging the game, here’s proof!” Why, it’s almost like the “truth” doesn’t matter, and he can manipulate the story into the narrative he wants to sell no matter what
  7. “The corporate media is so fake. I only get my news from social media and YouTube. No agendas there!” This is like when a 30-year-old told me with a straight face that politicians really only care about being re-elected. Yeah, bro, we know. Most of us figured this out when we were 10. It’s a little concerning you think it’s profound when you’re as old as you are.
  8. “Why are you getting so mad at me? I just said there are questions about what really happened at Sandy Hook!”
  9. Yes, you’re right. There are multiple services and studios that track this stuff, many of whom would love to knock Disney down a peg by revealing fraudulent activity, but pissed off people on social media have the real info. I might get temp-banned for saying this but this is a stupid post. You’re an adult. Do better than being Box Office Alex Jones.
  10. No Christmas Eve + People/kids off work Monday to soften Sunday drop = better weekend drops for everything, SW included.
  11. Mm-hmm. RO and TLJ both had to wait until their second week for kids to be out of school, and they had Christmas Eve in their second weekends. TROS is going to drop a fair bit better than both due to the generous calendar. TFA fell 40% its second weekend. TROS can fall around 48% and still hit $100M.
  12. This is the first STAR WARS movie since TFA to have the holidays line up this favorably. I’d bet a decent chunk of change RISE OF SKYWALKER is still making $100M+ next weekend.
  13. CinemaScore is a nice tool but it isn’t definitive. A B+ is concerning but there are plenty of cases of movies with that grade having good WOM. We each have small sample sizes that mean relatively nothing, but I’ve seen TROS three times and the response has been pretty positive each time (and I say that as someone who didn’t love it). I’m inclined to think WOM is at least okay.
  14. Agreed, it's so unfair that you need to have seen the movie to grade the movie, and that they have the audacity to only let you grade it once!!
  15. ...and a movie can make a slightly smaller gigantic pile of money and still not underperform. (I’m just trying it out for when some people call AVATAR 2 a bomb at $2.1 billion or whatever)
  16. It’s almost like their entire business model is whining about things, making their audience angry, and then feeding off the audience’s anger to whine about more things!
  17. The sad thing about SOLO flopping is it learned the wrong lesson. OBI-WAN would've thrashed it at the box office.
  18. Being mad at the Story Group of all things screams Angry Dude On YouTube. They have zero power. They are literally there to mold canon across platforms based on what filmmakers want to do in their movies.
