    Deep, bro. Toy Story 4 can’t shake a feeling of being redundant. And when it aims for the tears, there’s a distinct feeling of “This stung more last time”. It’s the nature of sequels.

    I liked this a lot but also think it’s the weakest TOY STORY sequel. It never really justifies “breaking open” TS3’s ending. But still very funny and very sweet and a really good movie.

    TOY STORY 4 has been screening in L.A. for over a week, and there's another big screening tomorrow night. Not being at the premiere doesn't mean all that much, this isn't AVENGERS or STAR WARS where the movie is locked down for as long as possible.

    I try to make outlines of screened films to compare them to the final cut, just to track reshoots and the like. I'm posting this single paragraph from the outline because, as a geek, this woulda intrigued the fuck outta me. Some spoilers about the current future status quo, but generally I find this bit more intriguing than super spoilery.

    Cameron has a story credit on DARK FATE, which is honestly more than I expected. I thought he was firmly in John Carpenter/HALLOWEEN mode of "Sure, whatever, use my name."

    T3 looks pretty awful. (I like T3, but the photography looks cheap.)

    ENDGAME will end up making around half a billion dollars domestically after opening weekend. Spinning that as bad or disappointing is either fanboy-motivated or insane.

    Last I heard was the story centered on Jigsaw sometime between Saw and Saw II - he was the main character - but that was jettisoned in favor of the Chris Rock version.
