So looking at recent preview vs. Friday numbers for MCU, it seems like the floor is around 2.75, where IW ended up, so Captain Marvel is looking at no less than $55 million for Friday even with the same Fri-Sat drop as IW, that would be a 42.3 Saturday, then give it the Doctor Strange Sat-Sun drop, the worst one I can find from the last few years, that gives a 28.2 Sunday. So, assuming the worst comps and the low end of the early estimate, the absolute floor for Captain Marvel right now is $125.5m for the weekend.

Glass is fantastic. Dan Murrell from Screen Junkies said it best, too many critics are confusing subjective criticism with objective criticism. People complain about how it wasn’t the kind of movie they were expecting but Shyamalan had no interest in making that movie. And I don’t think he ever indicated that it would be that kind of movie in the first place.

Looking at the sales at Disney Springs.... the 3:30 Upside sold at least 100 seats the 4:45 Dogs Way Home is sitting at 44 sold. they are really going to regret putting DWH in the huge 583 seat auditorium and only giving Upside a 160 seater. looking ahead, 7:00 Upside, 114 sold, 7:45 DWH, 68 sold. and that’s at the Disney World theater where family films have an advantage.

People always ignore the fact that the second movie in a Star Wars trilogy always drops 30-35% from the first one and TLJ had another juggernaut playing at the same time. Besides, Poppins is already holding way better than the last Rob Marshall directed musical featuring Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep that Disney released at Christmastime -
Poppins was fantastic. Disney Springs is, as expected, going whole hog with it this weekend. Looking at Friday, six total screens out of 24, including the Dolby, the 583 seater and one of the two 300+ seaters, and 24 total showtimes. They only have three screens for Aquaman and 12 total showtimes, claiming the other 300+ seater. Two screens for Bumblebee and one each for Marwen, Mary Queen of Scots and Second Act, of course. Otherwise, they’re cleaning house, Green Book is gone as is everything below it except Favourite and Deadpool (which is gone after Monday anyway), second biggest surprise is no GB or Star is Born, biggest surprise is Grinch still has six shows a day on Tuesday and after.

1. Where is this lunacy coming from, regarding Spider-Man Homecoming? it was great. 2. I really enjoyed CoG, saw it at noon at Disney Springs, it has one crucial element all previous films lacked, the element of surprise. even the first Beasts, you knew what was coming, and how the movie would end, this one, I did not see most of that coming at all. BTW, when I asked how Beasts was doing today, they said it was doing considerably better than yesterday.

Over at Disney Springs, they squeezed a late showing of Overlord into the Dolby auditorium this week instead of running a late Grinch.

That moment when you realize that, as poorly as Nutcracker is doing, it still made nearly as much in its first day as the combined totals of the last five Nutcracker movies. https://www.boxofficemojo.com/search/?q=Nutcracker Combined total: $5,888,165 -

Surprised Nobody’s Fool isn’t doing that well, it seemed like Perry was playing to a more general audience with this one. and I can’t quite believe how poorly Suspiria expanded, was figuring a 90% PTA drop at worst and this is well past that.
