  1. Still, the rest of the film, especially when it concentrates more on Georges is magical.
  2. Why is EL&IC a near lock. It's weird that noone has seen it yet.
  3. I really liked Ides of March's score. One of Desplat's best.
  4. I don't see anything on the BBFC's website, but whatever, I never expected less than an 18. But I don't think that'll hurt it's BO potential at all. Does the book really have that many teenage fans? Most are older, I would've thought.
  5. Great cast, script, direction, score, etc, etc, etc. Flawless. One of the best films of the year. Ryan Gosling got lucky to have 3 amazing roles this year.
  6. Why the fuuuuuuuuck doesn't Ides of March have more buzz? That's an incredible movie right there.
  7. Like Crazy, I don't think she'll get in either. Film isn't good enough, but she's taking all the breakthrough actress awards and MMMM is being ignored so far.
  8. Tbh, I think Elizabeth Olsen doesn't have a chance now, Felicity Jones keeps stealing all the breakthrough actress awards Liz should be winning.
  9. It was because of Fiennes AND Rickman.I mean, Rickman's great, but he's up against THIS

  11. Because I haven't seen his name on any of the FYC ads and the studio aren't bringing him to any Hollywood parties/awards shows so he can meet the voters like Fox are doing with Fassbender and Paramount are doing with Oswalt and Theron, that's how you do a good campaign if it looks like the actor may not get a nom.
  12. No. I don't think WB are even campaigning him...
  13. Wanna switch Christoph with Ben Kingsley on account of major Hugo love.
  14. It's not a fantasy. Trailer was misleading, quite a lot of it is about Georges Méliès, who's played by Kingsley, the guy who directed A Trip To The Moon.
  15. Not to mention Scorsese won the NBR, came second place with the NY critics and got a Satellite nomination, in very, very early awards season he's doing the best so far.
  16. I think Hugo has a better chance than Midnight in Paris. Scorsese might even get a director nomination, Kingsley has a good chance at getting a supporting nomination and a big bunch of technicals.
  17. Umm, maybe Hugo? It certainly has a shot of getting more nominations than Midnight in Paris or Moneyball and stuff.

  19. And Hugo didn't get an art direction nomination? What the fuuuuuuuuck?
  20. Bwahaha. I love that nomination! But w/ all those nominees I'm shocked they couldn't find any love for Ben Kingsley
  21. Marilyn has been successfully submitted into the comedy/musical category? HAHAHA, WTF GLOBES?
  22. This really is a technical marvel, I just sat through the whole thing in awe of how good everything looked, Anyway, the story of the film is really lovely, especially when the narrative concentrates on Georges Méliès in the second half or something, that's when the real magic of the film kicks in. Though I must admit that I didn't care much for Hugo as a character, or the actor who played him, he was just a bit of a bore really. Also, why couldn't he just tell Georges at the beginning of the film that that was his dead dad's notebook? I'm sure he would've given it back then. Everyone else plays their parts very well, especially SBC, Ben Kingsley and Helen McCrory. So essentially... HUGO is a movie that reminds me why movies are so awesome.
