  1. I don't think anyone is downplaying it. But the fact that it's Opening to pretty much the same as New Moon did is honestly a bit... boring.
  2. I CRINGED all the way through it. Complete shit. That kid gave the worst performance of the year by far.
  3. Does it need to be anything more? It's hugely entertaining. Raiders got a Best Picture nomination off the back of just being pure entertainment, I'm sure Tintin could win. Especially with this line up. It's either that or Rango, as I said before.
  4. I thought it was fantastic. The ending was very inspirational and it didn't even need that big winning moment. To be honest I got pretty emotional at the very end. Amazing performance from Brad Pitt as well, one of his best IMO, I always thought that his acting was sometimes forced, but here he's totally naturalistic and made it look easy. Which is of course a lot harder than it looks.
  5. Stephen Daldry - Extremely Loud and Incredibley CloseMichel Hazanavicius - The ArtistBennet Miller - MoneyballAlexander Payne - The DescendantsSteven Spielberg - War Horse
  6. BLASPHEMY!!!! Anyway, predictions: The Artist The Descendants Extremely Loud and Incredibley Close The Help Moneyball Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy War Horse
  7. One of the best films of the year but unfortunately it can't be. Didn't make the shortlist.
  8. And may I say that I don't mind Jeff Wells. Always entertaining if not for the right reasons. But I can't stand Ms. "Avatar is the best film of the year! Oh wait, a movie directed by a WOMAN might win Best Picture? I fucking hate Avatar. GIRL POWER!" aka Sasha Stone.
  9. It's fantastic that Stacey Francis got eliminated
  10. I'm definitely going to watch Eclipse this weekend. That's a DVD that's been sitting on my shelf, unopened, for months.
  11. Ugh, that sucks for Happy Feet. Though granted it didn't look anywhere near as good as the original which was an UNDERRATED MASTERPIECE!
  12. ...how long do I have to wait for Happy Feet numbers? I'm genuinely more anxious to see numbers for that.
  13. Good until the ridiculous ending ruined it for me.
  14. "Do you like Huey Lewis and the News?"A+. one of the best performances everrrrr.
  15. Winner is most likely War Horse, I guess.
  16. The ArtistThe Girl With The Dragon TattooHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2The Tree of LifeWar Horse
  17. I tend to agree. I think Rooney could be the only major nomination it gets. Probably cinematography and editing as well.
  18. SO, how 'bout you talk about a different film for once?
  19. The category with the most consistently great films IMO.15 films have been made eligible for the category. Unfortunately some of the best films of the year are ineligible. I think PROJECT NIM will win.
  20. It's the PRODUCERS who care so much about ratings. Not the voters. And yes, with the new rules a movie probably does need to be a contender to win to be nominated since it needs a bunch of #1 votes. The Academy have never taken the franchise seriously. Why should they start now?
  21. Exactly. FANBOYS are the only ones who still think it has a shot at a nomination. Some shit like Extremely Lame and Incredibley Contrived will win.
  22. I'd be SHOCKED if Deathly Hallows 2 is nominated. Maybe with the old rules but not with the new ones. How many academy members are actually gonna put it as their favorite film of the year? It has to be at least just over 300. I doubt many critics will put it at their number one of the year either despite them giving it raves.
