  1. 35% weekly drop lead to 318M or 17.3M admits. 30% weekly drops 321M or 17.5M admits.
  2. Spider-man: No Way Home Week 1 - $27.6M (Quebec missing since MON) Week 2 - $9.7M Week 3 - $5M (Ontario missing since WED) Week 4 - $1.5M Week 5 - $1M Week 6 - $0.79M 7th Weekend - $0.51M Total - $46.2M Ontario reopen today. Will be interesting how it do. It has probably missed $5M in last 26 days. How much of that it will be able to recover, will see. Quebec reopen next week. Underindexing performance in Canada. One would usually expect Canada to do $75-80M approx. with sort of numbers USA is doing. It has missed on $9M+ till date due to cinema closure in two states for a real value of $55M+, but that's not enough. Even with that it would be ending around $60M, roughly $15-20M short of what it should ideally be doing.
  3. 35% weekly drops lead to 95M. 30% weekly drops lead to 96.2M. Never thought MCU will come close to beat Bond. Hail the DEC-JAN. EG in DEC-JAN was 100M+ with ease.

  6. I guess that explains but like previous few years slate wasn't exactly great. So perhaps people be like enough is enough? But then Lake Changjin is an ATG with good trending.
  7. Actually let's keep that thread clean 👀
  8. I can optimistically see it open $15M. If Batman were to get CM drops, need it to open $111M or lower.
  9. @Gavin Feng what is the reason for sluggish sales? Content week?
  10. 2018 2019 2021 2018 - 17.5M admits (678M) - 32.5M final OD 2019 - 16M admits (719M) - 32.3M final OD 2021 - 21.25M admits (1047M) - 34.5M final OD 2022 - 11M admits (647M) so far with 4.5 hours to go. Final probably 12.5M (735M). I will post the film wise number at end of day.
  11. Great weekend for NWH but more interesting in knowing where Ontario resume business tomorrow and whether it will be big enough to give us flat NA weekend next weekend. ON in theory will be making as much as 15-20% of NWH daily numbers tomorrow. And then Quebec reopening on 7th.
  12. I think weekend estimate has more headlines than weekend actuals. I will go with optimistic estimates more often
  13. No competition. Last week was proly depressed being first after holidays.
  14. Fast and Furious went from ¥251M for 5th one to ¥2.5B to 7th one. what's the point here? Heck an Indian film had 45M admits in same year in China just on basis of strong WOM. I don't think US can give 25% of that to any foreign film they know nothing of. The market is that big. Parasite with Oscar buzz did only $50M.
  15. A relatively poor country like India has nearly 800M admission a year and our top film getting 130M admits. China getting 1.7B and top film getting 160M admits is not even a big deal with much better economy & far better cinema infrastructure.
  16. https://deadline.com/2017/10/china-box-office-fraud-hollywood-studio-losses-mpaa-audit-1202181178/ A report by the Wall Street Journal today says PricewaterhouseCoopers has found ticket sales were under-reported in 2016 by about 9%. Citing people familiar with the matter, the paper said auditors uncovered irregularities such as revenue listed as concession rather than ticket sales, non-reported screenings and incorrect audience sizes.
  17. China being world's biggest market was done in mid 2010s. The only thing was tickets were cheap & ER was falling. Which is being taken care now as ATP for event films reach $9.25 & ER is improving. $1B in a single market isn't even really that big deal. The question is when China delivers $1.5B film, as in spirit they have done with WW2 having 160M admits. And I wish Chinese govt give as many fucks as Western media report they do about box office. Visit China thread often to know about things.
  18. Avg admission per capita is one approach. USA is 3.4 an year in 2019 France 3.2 Iceland 3.5 Australia 3.3 New Zealand 3.2 Korea 4.2 Hong Kong 3.2 Singapore 3.3 The top film in these in last decade USA/CAN - 22% (TFA) France - 30% (Intouchables) Australia - 26% (TFA) Korea - 34% (The Admiral) Hong Kong - 23% (AEG) Singapore - 28% (AEG) Japan - 23% (DS) South Indian states TS - 36% (Baahubali 2) AP - 28% (Baahubali 2) TN - 20% (Baahubali 2) Kerala - 24% (Pulimurugan)
  19. Sorry bro but China box office is way more publicly available. The same information that comscore charges ton of money & even more is given in free for anyone to check. The audit Hollywood had didn't say box office was overreported but some theaters were underreporting which is fairly common in Asia.
