  1. I'm at 14 times with it! I initially got it only in front of horror/thriller stuff, but now I get it in front of dramas and comedies too. The amount of times I've heard "What are we eating, a Rolex?" or "Please don't say mouthfeel" (Each time, Anya sounded like she was saying "mouthful" instead and it kept throwing me off until I finally saw the trailer with captions)... it's too much.
  2. Disney is relentless with their previews. The Menu is the trailer I'm getting all the time now. Anything PG-13/R that's remotely considered for older audiences seemingly has that trailer booked in front of it. Black Panther and Avatar are basically before everything.
  3. @ringedmortality The Regal Mystery Movie file name is "Chili" and it's a scope file. 99.9% sure it is Spirited.
  4. Sony is up there with STX (well, what that studio used to be) when it comes to nervousness about release dates. Stu Reborn is on the 9th instead of the 2nd now I guess?
  5. I was thinking about other theatrical toned-down edits, only other ones I've got are Deadpool 2/Once Upon a Deadpool and The Passion of the Christ/The Passion Recut, along with filmlover's mention of The King's Speech. I know there were "classroom editions" of films like Glory produced, but they only went directly to home video. Father Stu is an instance where I'm not sure why they even made the movie as an R in the first place. Great way to turn off the faith-based evangelical crowds. Seems too late to be fixing that mistake, but I guess they'll try what they can.
  6. December 2 has another wide release set... sort of. Sony's re-releasing Father Stu (as "Father Stu: Reborn") over that weekend, I guess to get people into the holiday spirit? I dunno, it's odd. (EDIT: It's a new edited PG-13 version) Other holiday-related news: Violent Night will be getting IMAX screens along with Dolby Cinema. Lastly, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio is opening in theaters on November 18. Hearing Regal will be one of the major chains to play it.
  7. I do feel similar to this, and I think I'd also be classified as a "young hip liberal" (well, may not hip). As great as it is to order stuff off Amazon, I miss the days of hanging out at the mall with my friends. I'm sad that Netflix killed video stores as well, I have great memories of browsing the covers of the new releases with my family and deciding on a movie to watch that night. Used to love visiting book stores and comic shops too. And of course, I say this as I'm making an online order right now. I hate convenience sometimes! 😩
  8. Oh, I hope me bringing this point up didn't come off as wanting these movies to not get made, as I'm a fan of all sorts of material, both optimistic and pessimistic (hence why I still go out to them)! I do feel like it's something that a significant amount of people are feeling right now though. I don't really know what the solution is, but I hope it's not to stop producing them outright.
  9. All of this is completely anecdotal, so take this for what you will, but a lot of older family members and friends of mine post-COVID have made it clear that they no longer wish to see "dark" or "depressing" movies at all anymore, no matter how good the reviews are. I don't think it helps that these awards contenders always seem to be the most dour and bleak things you can find in theaters, and sure enough all the ones I've been to in the past couple years (which is nearly all of them!) have played to an otherwise mostly-deserted auditorium. I've talked to plenty of people who are absolutely certain that Till is a great movie, for instance, but not a single one of those individuals actually wants to see it or any of the other award-hopefuls this year, and these were people who normally would've gone to see all of them in time for the Oscars ceremony. They made time for CODA, but didn't even see the otherwise-hopeful Belfast because even that had a slightly depressing subject matter. But there's also streaming, shorter windows, COVID concerns, lower product output, etc., which I don't doubt are also taking a toll on these kinds of movies in particular. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  10. And conversely, BOM is listing Empire of Light as wide and Whale as limited! I always figured they were limited on the 9th, but maybe one or both of them will take advantage of the empty weekend.
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if Empire of Light and The Whale also went wide on Xmas weekend, the former especially since its awards chances seem to be fading.
  12. Going to make a much safer assumption that nobody’s mentioned Jesus Revolution (Lionsgate faith-based movie from the team behind I Can Only Imagine and I Still Believe) early access goes on sale Nov 1. No idea if general ticket sales start on the same date or not.
  13. I just noticed after I posted! Serves me right for posting so quickly. I was initially told Nov 3 for She Said, but it does look like it could be Nov 2 instead.
  14. Just as exciting as Avatar, hearing a tentative sale date of Nov 11 for Bones and All and Devotion. EDIT: Filmlover beat me to it!
  15. Happy Friday! I’m told Fabelmans is on sale Nov 1 and She Said on Nov 3.
  16. Sorry, not yet! 😖 I assure you I'll tag you once I hear anything. My source still hasn't received word on what the movie is, although he seems pretty confident it's not Fabelmans (For those lurking from r/boxoffice where I got "famous" for the last mystery movie after my BOT reply got shared over there, please do not post this as 100% confirmation, as I'm not ruling anything out completely just yet). The DCP file should be sent out for ingestion sometime late next week, so hopefully I'll hear something soon.
  17. Here ya go There’s the untitled 6 (though the Dec 2 one is now known), with One Piece that makes 7.
  18. As a notice to this board, Crunchyroll has not one, not two, but seven releases on the calendar for the next six months: Nov 4 - One Piece: Red Dec 2 - Quintessential Quintuplets Movie Jan 20 - Untitled Feb 3 - Untitled Feb 21 - Untitled Mar 3 - Untitled Apr 14 - Untitled The untitled ones were recently added a few days ago, with Quintessential Quintuplets being revealed as the Dec 2 title earlier today. I don't know how many of these will be nationwide with full shows like Dragon Ball, One Piece, etc. or which might be a little more limited like the Sword Art Online release last year, but Crunchyroll does seem to be significantly ramping up the amount of anime titles they'll be putting out into theaters.
  19. BOP's weekend forecast says Jane is opening in about 1,000 locations, same with Tar. They're estimating ~2k for Till.
  20. I love that the original title for that movie was The Plane. When I first saw that title when it was announced as going into production, I was thinking "Oh man, what a terrible title. I sure hope they change it!" And oh wow did they! Just didn't think they'd find a way to make it worse! It's like the trend of adding "The" before a title to signify it's a new movie (The Predator, The Suicide Squad, The Batman), but in reverse! The "Plane? More like Plain" review quotes write themselves.
  21. Damnit, Nick! Not Diet Coke! Dr. Pepper was always my favorite. Stopped drinking it a while back to cut back on caffeine since it was making me feel on-edge for most of the day and gave me terrible headaches later. I miss it, wish they'd bring back the caffeine-free version.
  22. Yeah, right on the money. Left some room open for A- based on previous Dwayne movies (Last I checked, Hobbs & Shaw was at the same verified RT and got A-), but it seemed pretty definitively B+ otherwise when it came to DC/comic book movies. Same score as both Suicide Squads, Justice League, and WW84 (all of which had steep declines) could mean bad news for next weekend, suppose we'll see.
