  1. I believe EC said the date for sales to begin on this one was March 28.
  2. Alright, I might be missing something, but as far as I can tell, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will be the widest opening for an anime title since Pokémon 3 back in 2001 (booked at over 2.6k screens), and the first to open at 2.5k+ locations since then too, if BOP's location count estimate is correct. First to go over 2k on OW since Yu-Gi-Oh back in 2004 as well, yea? Again, I might've glanced over a title that came between. Demon Slayer eventually went over 2k, but not until week 3.
  3. That was more so due to the extreme dead zone that was late Aug/early Sep of 2014, which included one of the worst pre-COVID weekends in years over the Labor Day that The Identical opened (Classic movie for all the wrong reasons). Don't remember there being anything else for families out at the time, either.
  4. Important to remember just how poor the response to that 2014 Ninja Turtles movie was. A B CinemaScore for a big-budget tentpole like that was crazy bad.
  5. Not really expecting Sonic 2 to pick up until much later. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the first entry didn't start gaining momentum until rather close to release, as tends to be the case for most family titles. Morbius being over for now makes sense, it's closer to the release and targets the audience more likely to pre-order. I'm fully expecting Sonic 2 to have a larger OW and total than Morbius, by the way. Just saying it makes sense for pre-sales for Morbius to be higher at this current point.
  6. That's how it was promoted, but the concert was shown on a significant tape delay (by a few hours, based on Deadline), so it wasn't really "live", outside of getting to view it at the same time as all the other theater-going fans (even then, there were multiple showtimes, so not exactly completely simultaneous). I suppose given where the concert took place, this was about as good as could be done outside of having the concert in the very early morning in Seoul.
  7. Also worth noting that they apparently paused all political donations in FL, including to any politicians who opposed the bill.
  8. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is getting some PLFs next weekend (though most should still be Batman), followed by Lost City the following weekend, with some places getting RRR. Batman will probably lose whatever remaining PLFs it has left once Morbius hits.
  9. The TV animation staff released letters today criticizing Chapek as well.
  10. HRC is also refusing the $5m donation Disney offered them today. Not looking good for Chapek.
  11. Chapek specifically mentioned theaters for Dr Strange and Thor. Said nothing about the release strategy for Lightyear. Might be telling.
  12. Heard March 14, same day as another April blockbuster. Got this from a friend on a Discord server that seems to have these dates right (or at least, they seem to line up with what EC mentions). Take their word on it or don't, I guess! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  13. There’s an early access screening on the Wed before too. Gotta love preview number inflation (Prob just spreading the same audience out anyway, I’m sure, maybe?)
  14. Seems like Sonic 2 is the latest to have preview times start at 3pm on Thursday.
  15. On Wed? Post-holiday and post-discount Tuesday, if I had to assume. This was its first regular weekday.
  16. A little over 3 years later and I finally win again!
  17. Kenneth did some Zoom interviews for it, think I stumbled across one on RT recently. He might've been the only one.
  18. I don't think this is even going to get a nationwide release, maybe only a handful of theaters overall. Seems STX isn't even handling this movie anymore, the trailer was uploaded by Paramount Movies, the channel devoted to Paramount's VOD and home entertainment division.
  19. Minor correction, but the BOM page for the movie lists April 8 as the wide expansion date instead of a new release date. Seems the movie will still open in limited release on the 25th. For some reason, the Calendar Changes page made it seem like the date switched entirely.
  20. It's still a theaters-only trailer, it first started hitting circulation sometime in October. I got it in front of Antlers and haven't seen it since.
  21. This movie is sitting on a shelf completely/near-finished and a prime March 11 date just opened up. Might be a good idea to avoid competition from Sonic 2 and FB3...
  22. From what I found, a lot of critics aren't even getting this screened until a virtual screener tomorrow night. Not sure what the embargo lift date is, but I'd have to guess it isn't until this Thursday at the earliest. Not a good sign.
