  1. Deadline says the date is September 30 specifically. Opening in limited release.
  2. Wouldn't Easter Sunday qualify as a studio comedy this summer? Unless we're only talking larger-budgeted like Lost City.
  3. Didn't this come out in theaters in the US too? I remember seeing trailers for it. Same with The Jungle Book 2. Was odd in that age of Disney making DTV sequels to all their classics that those two went to theaters for whatever reason.
  4. Was just thinking that. The fact that it's called an "Extra Fun Stuff" version instead of an "Extended Cut" makes me feel like this is just going to have some new special features tacked on after the credits. Maybe whatever this new thing is they shot with the three of them.
  5. Everyone out here forgetting The Nut Job 2 exists! ...Unless we're talking about sequel in terms of "downgrade from original" instead of sheer quality overall. In that case, I'll see myself out!
  6. This is 20th Century Studios, according to both the MPA rating report and this:
  7. @ChipDerby I believe Box Office Mojo is mistaken and that Deep in the Heart is not opening wide this weekend. In fact, I think it's only playing in a few theaters in Texas. If you're looking for a tenth movie, might I suggest Crimes of the Future? That one seems to be going into quite a few locations.
  8. IFC/Shudder's Watcher seems to be going pretty wide too, no? Seeing a bunch of theaters booking that one that normally wouldn't book something at the 500/600 level. Not that anything coming this weekend will get in TG's way regardless.
  9. On the bright side, Black Phone seems pretty well-positioned for a breakout with the lack of competition in the genre space and strong buzz. Although Phone is R, I actually think the box office is overdue specifically for PG-13 horror. Last one was Umma, and that was barely marketed and didn't even go over 1,000 locations. Not sure if Bed Rest (if STX actually puts it out), Nope, or The Bride will end up with that rating, but I think somebody could benefit from it.
  10. May or may not see a CinemaScore for Men. Doesn't seem like X got one, wonder if this will be commonplace for A24 fare, similar to how Open Road doesn't have any scores for their most recent titles. Or maybe it was just a weird exception?
  11. Scream took a week longer than 45 to head to P+ specifically, but the 45 day theatrical window still held since it dropped on VOD storefronts (iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, etc.) the week before on day 47.
  12. Surely I'm not the only one who has noticed Uni/Focus has only done 1 day-and-date movie each quarter, no? Q3 '21 - Boss Baby 2 Q4 '21 - Halloween Kills Q1 '22 - Marry Me Q2 '22 - Firestarter Q3 '22 - Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul Based on that logic, I'd assume everything until October is safe, but I wouldn't be surprised if they end the practice altogether instead.
  13. A brand-new Blumhouse-produced reboot of a Stephen King property opening just barely better than low-budget indie horror The Night House sure would be an interesting twist.
  14. Do we have a confirmed date for Men tickets? Lotta showtimes going up. Seems rare now that a Thursday preview starts at 7pm.
  15. I'm not in the Northeast, no. Although a pal of mine that likes checking up on these sorts of things has scouted around there, and he doesn't think it's exploding nearby quite yet either, though sales are certainly far from poor. I'm more in the Midwest, I especially like to check up on the Chicago-area and surrounding theaters. Pretty sold moviegoing population, although horror movies really over-index here.
  16. To be fair, Bond's ramp-up kinda stalled here on the week-of. Was looking like it would open much higher for the longest time. Things can change if TG2 doesn't suffer the same fate. Does it change anything that I'm in a pretty liberal/left-leaning city? Maybe it'll play great in Middle America.
  17. This is the same case near me. It's on-par with stuff like Bond, but it's way behind a lot of other major titles.
  18. Won't this be 5? Scream, Jackass, Lost City, Sonic, and Top Gun?
  19. Afraid not, the release schedule on Sony Classics' site only lists it expanding to 285 more locations this week.
  20. Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes on Nov 17, 2023 according to that BleedingCool live blog
  21. I don't know anything for sure about the plot of Expendables 4, but who wants to bet that Stallone's character is killed by the bad guys early on and Statham has to build up a new team to get revenge?
  22. Would love Expendables 4 in August and Borderlands in October (or John Wick 4 to move up and take either of those spots), but not holding my breath.
  23. Didn't Leitch direct Hobbs & Shaw? Thought Vin wasn't really a fan of that movie's existence, not sure he'd be game for bringing that guy on board.
