  1. Funny how the side that accuses everyone of being "snowflakes" is the one most triggered by any representation.
  2. I understand that too, but your data is actual data which is way better than the sample. With Pulse especially for bigger movies it began to break down because of the daily caps. Pulse was pretty much useless for Endgame and probably would have been for TROS as well.
  3. Yeah Reylo harassment is way over the top and ridiculous. I don't know why people feel the need to stamp opposing views off the internet. That said I don't think what Boyega did is harassment, he was responding to people who came at him.
  4. Are you saying it had the best reception it could have had? Nobody is denying it has good, even very good reception but it's increase was more like GOTG2 to GOTG (GOTG2 also had good reception but not as great as the biggest breakout sequels). It isn't delusional to think that the increase could have been bigger if the reception had been better. Also it is ridiculous to say that @Arendelle Legion and @pepsa as "zombie redditors who have a distorted view of reality". They both have a very good grasp of how F2 has performed in various markets. Maybe you should visit the international threads (especially the SK thread) sometime and see for yourself.
  5. Wouldn't even bother continue to responding to people, everyone is willfully misinterpreting what you and @Arendelle Legion have been saying. You guys are 100% correct, although I would note that sequels have an inherently higher bar in getting the kind of great reception that would have propelled F2 higher.
  6. >50m 3-day should happen for Bad Boys. Phenomenal performance.
  7. That is excellent for Bad Boys previews, and it should be a very walkup friendly movie as well. If it could get to 4m previews it could be looking at 45-50 even for the 3-day.
  8. For me, I am not a fan of the business so much as the world/characters. The difference between that and supporting a good movie is just that when I am a fan of something, I am invested in speculating about future projects, where certain characters will go, and discussing it more often than with other films that I enjoy.
  9. I haven't seen Joker so I have no opinion one way or another on its nominations. I do take issue with people saying it "elevated the genre" and claiming that everyone needs to celebrate the movie even if they didn't like it. I had the same issue when people said Black Panther (a movie which I loved) "elevated the genre", and that everyone had to like it for that reason. I don't consider "elevating the genre" something that a single film can do, and I don't think that CBMs particularly need "elevating" either.
  10. Seriously? Awards shows don't decide which movies enter the pantheon of history, people do. Plenty of Oscar winners have been forgotten and plenty of films that strike out are remembered. I haven't been able to see Joker yet, so why should I celebrate it just because people at Venice thought it was good? I'll see it and make up my own mind.
  11. Pretty normal I'd say. Especially with discount Tuesday probably being a lot stronger this week than last. Hobbit 2 dropped a bit less but Discount Tuesdays were nowhere near what they are now.
  12. Those two factors, along with being more of a character study, only helped it in terms of awards. And regardless of your personal feelings on Black Panther, it was objectively nominated for Best Picture.
  13. I am actually fine with the Sony films being MCU connected as long as they're not terrible. Hopefully this one is better than Venom though. Anyway the trailer was decent so not sure why the hate.
  14. People thought the PT had killed the brand and disgruntled fans wouldn't be brought back. Still, I don't see how expectations from months before TFA's release are particularly useful when analyzing TROS's performance. TFA was a huge event that couldn't be replicated, but so was TPM. Yet TLJ had the same % drop as AOTC despite a better hook and TFA's much better reception than TPM, and TROS is dropping again while ROTS had a significant increase (due to a good hook + significantly better buzz) despite the not great reception of AOTC. No matter how you slice it that isn't a healthy trend.
  15. Good numbers for 1917. Skywalker's dailies have become pretty predictable finally, should be a photo finish between it and BATB.
  16. First episode was ok, will probably keep going. My biggest gripe so far is how gray the aesthetic is. Is there a reason for this/is it from the source material?
  17. I don't know about only one good personal interaction in DS but I agree the character interactions in CM were far stronger. In fact I thought Strange's character development was weird in general in DS, he got powerful really quickly without much struggle.
  18. Idk I would probably also put him below Watts, Favreau, Branagh, and maybe Johnston, about on par with Peyton Reed, and above the rest. I agree he did have interesting things to say about death which could put him higher but I don't think that came through strongly in the film. Edit: also Black is probably above him
  19. I think (and this is totally anecdotal I admit) that DS's reception seems worse online than it actually is because the movie doesn't have that big a group who absolutely love it and it's one of their favorite MCU films in the same way the MCU Spidey films or GOTG2 do. But the majority of people liked it just fine and it doesn't have as many intense haters as those films either.
  20. Eh, the movie was pretty well received. It wasn't one of the absolutely beloved Marvel films but the reception was in the same territory as FFH or Homecoming (though I find both of those to be way better than DS).
