  1. Nope, I specifically said that I don't think there's any fatigue, but that some people might, might (too early to say) have less interest to MCU currently because Endgame felt such a definitive ending for many and some of the characters they felt the most emotional attachement towards are gone now. And I think if that's what happened it could easily change soon anyways if they introduce new interesting storylines and characters. Agreed that superhero fatigue as a concept is complete bullshit.
  2. While I think we're getting ahead of ourselves with labeling FFH as an underperformer when it has been out like for a day, I definitely wonder has the audience response to MCU changed post-Endgame. Like anecdotally I know shitton of people who have said that they aren't so interested in it anymore. It's not really fatigue for most, more like sort of contentment and fulfillness. Reminds me a little bit of (cursed name!) the Last Jedi and how many people who actually liked that movie said that they felt like they don't need to ever see another Star Wars movie again. I think that End Game felt like the final chapter of the story for many, and everything that comes after it feels like an addition and not so "necessary". Perhaps Endgame was the first marvel movie that didn't create a desire to see the next chapter. I feel like there's a bit less hype and sense of urgency now. I'm a huge fan and even I wasn't that hyped for the follow up! Now I don't mean that marvel movies will suddenly start to flop or that there isn't interest anymore, I think they will continue to be big but the hype for them might come back to earth so to speak. Of course it's way too early to make conclusions like this, and for one reason or another this seems to apply only to domestic numbers so far anyways, but it's food for thought.
  3. Wow I actually didn't know that! It's been years since I watched the orginal Raimi trilogy and I don't remember them very well. It would add a great meta element if the guy who once played Peter's small-time bully would later play his supervillain adversary
  4. So, it was amazing! Especially the second half. Action, high school stuff, everything was so good. Probably in my top 5 of MCU and easily my favorite Spide-Man film. It was actually good that I read spoilers beforehand because I could prepare myself for things I didn't like and they didn't annoy and distract me as much as they otherwise would have. I don't think Mysterio is really dead. If it's not illusion I won't be surprised if that melodramatic bitch just simply pretended to be dead after his oscar speech. I still think they will reverse the identity reveal somehow sooner or later, though I admit it's partially because I just dislike this plot choice so strongly. But I mulled it over for a week and came to the conclusion that this actually opens lots of possibilities like introducing Kraven the Hunter. I think the most likely way they will reverse it has something to do with Doctor Strange, everybody and their mom have teased Spidey/Strange teamup. I have a hunch Peter will have to make a difficult choice that will erase his secret identity out of everybody's mind, including those who knew already like MJ, Ned, May and Happy. After that he will be alone with his secret and will have to hide it again from the people close to him, and Happy may not remember him at all. Flash and Peter could become friends since Flash idolizes Spider-Man and then be back to bullying him, and Peter would start working at Daily Bugle without JJJ not knowing who he is. This is of course pure speculation but I think it would be a pretty obvious narrative direction. Other thing I didn't initially like was connecting Mysterio to Tony. Unlike many fanboys I don't necessarily have a problem with Iron Man's heavy presence in Spidey's story, since he's one of my favorite characters of all time, even more so than Spidey, and I absolutely loved his and Peter's relationship. What I hate is the lazy trend to portray so many problems and villains originating somehow from Tony in the way doesn't really contribute anything or even always make sense. So when I read that Mysterio and his gang were going to be disgruntled ex-Stark Industries employees I was like We already went through this with Vulture and god knows how many times before! The most annoying thing with stuff like this is that Tony-haters will use them as excuses, even if Tony actually didn't even do anything wrong. But I ended up really loving portrayal of Mysterio, and I don't think they were trying to imply that Tony actually did anything bad and made very clear that Beck was a shitty, powerhungry narcissist (his vitriolic outraged little face when he said "Stark called me... unstable" lol). Of course Tony haters will still twist it but you can't help it so whatever. In the end I thought, as a huge Iron Man fan, that it was actually fitting to have the final villain of phase tree connected to him and Tom wasn't kidding when he said the whole movie is sort of love letter to Iron Man/RDJ. It felt bittersweet epilogue to Infinity Saga. I got emotional when Peter was finally making his own suit with ACDC blasting on background, keeping Tony's legacy alive but also making his own.
  5. Ok, good to hear you didn't mean anything bad with it☺. When I read it sounded kind of dehumanizing, like you would say "elite horses" or something or implying some black people who aren't "elite" are somehow subpar, but since english isn't isn't my native language I may misinterpret things. It's all good.
  6. I can't believe I just had to read with my own eyes things like "I never find black women attractive" or "I wouldn't have sex with anyone who isn't white" and using words like "elite blacks" and "orientals" and then trying to act like they are not racists Like take this shit to 4chan or something, also we all know you aren't getting any laid anyways lmao
  7. You guys are talking about consequences and permanent changes but I'm fairly sure that it will not go that way. I think it will get erased one way or another pretty soon (just like usually in the comics). Spider-Man's character just doesn't work without the secret identity aspect. They will probably use this as a plot point for maybe 1-2 movies and then somehow restore the status quo. It's still weird that they decided to have such a big event happen in the post-credit scene, I don't think there's ever been anything so relevant to plot in the post-credits, which we know some people still don't even watch. Unless there's some misunderstanding and Mysterio just paints Spider-Man as a menace rather than revealing his real name, which was what some people in reddit who supposedly saw the movie claimed, but since Vieweranon liked that plot summary I assume it's accurate. *shrugs*
  8. I would also love to have McAvoy and Fassbender back tbh, I think they were great and had such a good chemistry with each others, the writing just didn't always live up to that.
  9. I think jk simmons as jjj seems very likely because it consistently comes up and Vieweranon even changed his twitter profile pic to him after seeing the movie, but otherwise everything seems very dubious and unclear, all the alleged leaks say different things.
  10. I usually avoid spoilers but couldn't help myself this time... I guess i'm okay with everything else except Peter's identity being revealed to everyone. I really, really hate the idea. Like I have been fine with the most changes but that's a really essential aspect of Spidey's character, I think it would be ridiculous to have a big secret identity reveal this early especially when it hasn't been even explored. And while JK Simmons back as JJJ is itself is amazing how is his and Daily Bugle's relationship with Peter even going to work when it kind of depends on him not knowing that Peter is actually Spider-man. But idk if all this is even confirmed so maybe I should't get myself worked up yet...
  11. Spielberg really should work with some other cinematographer than Janusz Kaminski (I assume he's doing this one too?). His style fits well for many dramas and such but stuff like Indiana Jones or West Side Story, not so much.
  12. I think Hemsworth is one of those many, many actors that Hollywood tries to push for the conventional leading man roles that don't fit them. They end up coming across as blandly handsome, generic white guy clones, but then you see them in some different kind of stuff and different roles than they usually do and you're like "wtf he's actually pretty good and charismatic?" I think Hemsworth is lowkey a comedic genius and has dramatic chops as well - as long as you don't put him into those aforementioned "generic leading man" roles. MIB seems at least on page good fit for him and he and Tessa have great chemistry so I'm pretty optimistic about this one.
  13. I'm getting Solo/Justice League flashbacks with how every Dark Phoenix update goes lower... could it go under 30m?
  14. I was going to watch Dark Phoenix just on principle even though I'm not really a X-men fan but all these negative reactions have pretty much killed any interest I had. And almost everything except Aladdin doing badly or mediocrely jeez
  15. I'm fairly sure that both Holland and Pascal talked about it in interviews but that was like two years ago and I don't remember where. Uncharted movie was already going to happen but after Tom's pitch they started to consider making it a young version. It's possible that I'm remembering wrong though. I didn't find a source with a quick googling, someone who's less lazy than me could try to dig it up...
  16. I adore Tom Holland but from the very little I know about Uncharted it definitely sounds he's terribly miscast and the whole project sounds kind of ill-advised, dare I say cringeworthy. Iirc Tom pitched the idea of young Nathan Drake movie while talking with Amy Pascal. From the way they have talked about it I get the impression that Tom was just throwing around ideas and then Pascal latched on that, and that it was her idea to cast Tom (if you have heard the way she talks about Tom and Zendaya she's fucking obsessed with them) who was rather surprised by this turn of events. He definitely wasn't intentionally trying to create a new franchise for himself. I know Tom loves the game and approaches this with similar enthusiasm as he does everything but I had kind of hoped that this whole project would just silently die because it's probably going to be terrible. I don't think you can say does he have any drawing power or not because after being cast as Spidey he hasn't really been in any project that would test it, but I don't think it even matters and this is going to flop nevertheless.
  17. I'm sure this will both 1) have F cinemascore and absolutely atrocious wom, at least in America 2) be one my favourite movies this year.
  18. Yeah I agree, at least 90% of the users are great and this is overall a good community. It's just that those few assholes/trolls are vocal and tend overshadow everything else (or poison the well as y'all say) especially at the times when there's not much else going on. But I try to ignore it, it's not worth it to give those people attention they obviously so desperately want.
  19. I feel like I might have to take back what I wrote a few weeks ago about this site being so much better and nicer place than r/boxoffice, this thread...
  20. I was a huge Twilight fan at the time (I know I know...) and can confirm that most of the fanbase had a rather negative reaction to the casting and many (including myself) didn't like him in the role after the movies came out either. There was a pretty clear divide between the original book fans and the movie fans. Now later I've realized that Pattinson and Stewart were actually superior to the material and not vice versa, and gave the best possible performances they could. I have come to really appreaciate Pattinson as an actor and I'm happy that he's been having critical success and hopefully now also mainstream success other than Twilight.
  21. This is probably a stupid question, my apologies, but I have never understood how exactly Mayoan ratings affect the box office/legs so strongly? Are they really such a reliable reflection of the audience reaction that you can determine what WOM is like with exact precision? Or do millions of chinese people really flock to that single site and decide whether they will see a movie based on just the rating? Both, neither?
  22. Wow I have somehow completely missed that this movie is happening! Loved the book. The trailer is pretty good but why would you cast Ansel Elgort sigh... I have irrational hartred towards that guy (slightly justified since someone I know went to school with him and he was according to her a total asshole, she gets so frustrated any time when someone praises him, if Ansel gets oscar nom for this she's going to lose her mind lol) and I don't think he's that good actor either. But on the other hand Theo is kind of annoying character lot of time so maybe it's fitting. Everything else looks rather good.
  23. I'm thinking of going to see this, would I enjoy it if I haven't seen any Godzilla movies/don't really know anything about the franchise? I do usually like action and monster smashing a la Pacific Rim but there's apparently some complaints that there wasn't enough of that in GKOM.
