  1. I suspect the total for today will be 14m. Incredible film. 9.9/10, as a Joker fan, this is everything I never knew I wanted out of an origin story. Has flaws, but man this movie gets you feeling (and the flaws are really minor). The only 10/10 for me is the dark Knight.
  2. What are the walk up numbers like? I feel like people will line up for this over the weekend.
  3. How should one prepare for the violence/horror? Like is there a movie with similar violence? I don't want to sit in the theatre and have to waste 5 minutes adjusting to the violence lmao.
  4. Well that has economic incentives, but the point still remains. My question is where did the post go? Am i blind or did it get deleted?
  5. Why would one watch a movie they already hate? Seems like self-inflicting punishment.
  6. Scotiabank Theatre Vancouver: AVX - Thursday is at 419/2139, 20%. Friday (443/1286), 34%. Regular - Thursday (71/775), 9.2%, these showings were added really late. There is none still for Friday. Cineplex Strawberry Hill: AVX - Thursday (64/648), 10%. Friday (174/846), 21%. Regular - Thursday (22/750), 3%. Again added late. Cineplex Metropolis: AVX - T (123/1103), 11%. F (198/1468), 13.4%. Regular - T (66/1322), 5%. Landmark New Westminster: Regular - T (19/120, 55/92, 79/120, 57/90, 48/78, 30/73, 24/104, 21/120, 5/78= 335/875, 36%) F (15/104, 18/120, 19/92 ~ early showings, 38/120, 78/93, 103/120, 65/92, 87/120 = 464/861, 50%). Some context on these numbers: The first three theatres are owned by cineplex. These showings have majority of movie watchers (like 60%) book tickets on the day of the showing. Landmark usually has most people book early because they sell fast. For instance, Cineplex Strawberry hill has a Landmark nearby and that is sold at around 35%.
  7. Joker: 113 million OW. Going to play it a little safe right now.
  8. Yet Phoenix by all accounts is a great person to work with. You are making it seem that a well-respected actor is a diva. Dig deeper.
  9. Side note: I think the second and third weeks will be strong. People who fear a shooting may elect to go on the second or third week for safety reasons.
  10. Scotiabank Theatre Vancouver: AVX - Thursday is at 287/2139, 13%. Friday (284/1286), 22%. Regular - Thursday (16/775), 2.2%, these showings were added really late. There is none still for Friday. Cineplex Strawberry Hill: AVX - Thursday (43/648), 7%. Friday (95/846), 11%. Regular - Thursday (12/750), 1.6%. Again added late. Cineplex Metropolis: AVX - T (77/1103), 7%. F (113/1468), 7.7%. Regular - T (38/1322), 2.9%. Landmark New Westminster: Regular - T (19/120, 51/92, 60/120, 19/90, 23/78, 19/73, 20/104, 13/120, 3/78= 227/875, 26%) F (13/104, 11/120, 12/92 ~ early showings, 17/120, 57/93, 94/120, 55/92, 45/120 = 304/861, 35%). Some context on these numbers: The first three theatres are owned by cineplex. These showings have majority of movie watchers (like 60%) book tickets on the day of the showing. Landmark usually has most people book early because they sell fast. For instance, Cineplex Strawberry hill has a Landmark nearby and that is sold at around 25%.
  11. Firstly, this is nothing that the CBM has seen before. To say otherwise is to be ignorant. Secondly, why are we dismissing the American critics again? Clearly you understand the division between American and European critics on this film. Yet you only side with the American critics without bringing up the European ones who say this is an "interesting" film. That's makes everything your saying as worse than whatever you think supporters of this film are saying. You are ignoring a large portion of this film's critical response because you want all evidence that you cite to fit your narrative. And don't now acknowledge that the European reviews are good but that this doesnt diminish your argument. You don't deserve an opinion if that is the case.
  12. Here you again. Wouldn't it be great if no one was following this film and then you could just say false and incorrect stuff without anyone calling you out on your BS? If you actually read articles where these quotes originate from then you would realize that this is part of Joaquin's method acting. Do you know how intense it is to play the Joker? Isn't incredible that Joaquin has the self-awareness to walk out when he doesn't feel right? Why are you calling it unprofessional for an actor to walk out because he feels he needs to take a break? Joaquin is one of the most respected actors in the industry. Stop making up BS.
  13. Phillips has brought to our attention of the risks of stealing Mike Tyson's tiger when in Vegas. That's a lesson Samuel Johnson would have been proud of.
  14. What's with your and Ororo's overreliance on phrases such as lol and lmao? Starting with that doesn't take away from the OP nor does it validate your point. And I have no idea why you are deflecting my questions and aiming to change the subject. I never discussed Firepower, I am talking about you. Answer my question first.
  15. What a disgrace. The Irishman should be banned in all countries. A movie that glorifies crime and gang life for 3 hours and 20 minutes. We can deal with it being 3 hours, but the extra 20 minutes will ensure that the ignorant white man will now try to become a gangster and commit crimes! Disgusting! /s
  16. Speaking of answering the real questions, why don't you answer for the fact that you purposely misconstrued what victims of a shooting had said so that you could create a false narrative just because you're a fanboy. Why don't you answer for this? Do you have no ethics?
  17. Lol It truly is something to see you lot resort to name calling because you can't handle the truth about the media. Pretty clear that you wanted this Golden Lion Winner to be seen as an "awful movie" which makes it all the more hilarious to see you unable to accept the "white man" Todd Phillips win. Lol!
  18. This (JOKER) is selling well in the Greater Vancouver Area: Scotiabank Theatre Vancouver: AVX - Thursday is at 255/2139, 12%. Friday (222/1286), 17%. Regular - Thursday (9/775), 1.2%, these showings were added really late. There is none still for Friday. Cineplex Strawberry Hill: AVX - Thursday (36/648), 6%. Friday (66/846), 8%. Regular - Thursday (6/750), 0.8%. Again added late. Cineplex Metropolis: AVX - T (70/1103), 6%. F (96/1468), 6.5%. Regular - T (32/1322), 2.4%. Landmark New Westminster: Regular - T (18/120, 46/92, 58/120, 19/90, 23/78, 17/73, 20/104, 8/120, 3/78= 212/875, 24%) F (11/104, 11/120, 6/92 ~ early showings, 17/120, 50/93, 80/120, 55/92, 35/120 = 265/861, 31%). Some context on these numbers: The first three theatres are owned by cineplex. These showings have majority of movie watchers (like 60%) book tickets on the day of the showing. Landmark usually has most people book early because they sell fast. For instance, Cineplex Strawberry hill has a Landmark nearby and that is sold at around 20%.
  19. The real claim of shooting victims is for gun reform. You are actively changing that to fit your narrative. Don't take the high ground here and use victims to defend your argument.
  20. We straight up have a racist and sexist here. You realize shooters have manifestos that they want aired with the most publicity. The media just provided them a platform through this hysteria. Take off your marvel and DC glasses and see the bigger picture.
  21. Please expand on that first sentence. And the second sentence is, and i say this as a POC, racist and sexist. White men does not just equal incel domestic terrorists. Honestly the discourse that you are repeating here around white men, mental illness, and domestic terrorism is very assumptive and with great tunnel vision. Some people are hateful and deserve no sympathy. Others are mentally ill and react violently as a result. These people can be also very hateful, but to dehumanize them as just "white men" doing "white men" stuff is problematic (and one of things the movie addresses). I suggest you spend time around white men with severe mental illness and who commit violence. Are they hateful and danergous? Sometimes. Are they incredibly ill? Yes. But people can still commit awful acts with mental illness, and still be human. I have been around enough ex-criminals, ex-hateful incels, and ex-Neo Nazis, and I can tell you that people can change. Not all white men are incel terrorists. Even the ones that are, can change because they are human that were put in awful situations. So why does it bleeping matter who addresses these social issues? Would you rather the white male Santa do it? The king of Christmas coming this October. Joker isn't the first movie to address the callousness of society with white men and won't be the last. The joker has the same impact on violence that John wick has on people getting headshots in real life. Zero.
