The audience does not care who the real Agent Argylle is.

Everyone already knows. In fact, it was out in the open for years, as early as from back when the movie was first announced. In the social media age, word spreads faster than light. And with their friends digging the old announcement up and posting on Twitter and TikTok about it, why should people fork the money to see a movie that can't stand on its own without that surprise factor?

Following the news that Jim Carrey will return as Dr. Robotnik, IGN can reveal that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will also see the additions of Krysten Ritter, Alyla Browne, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, and Jorma Taccone to its cast.

While we still don't yet know who these newcomers will be playing, we do know they will join returning cast members Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Lee Majdoub, Idris Elba, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Tom Butler, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter.

The new cast is led by Krysten Ritter, who previously starred as Jessica Jones in Marvel's Jessica Jones, Jane Margolis in Breaking Bad, and Chloe in Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23. As for who she plays in Sonic 3, there are rumors swirling that she may be the perfect candidate for Rouge the Bat.

Browne is the youngest of the bunch and was seen in The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, Nine Perfect Strangers, and Three Thousand Years of Longing. She is also set to star as the younger Furiosa in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

In regards to Browne's role, there is a decent chance she plays Sonic Adventure 2's Maria. This is made even more believeable when you take into consideration Shadow the Hedgehog looks to be the biggest new addition to the film, and the recently revealed logo is an homage to Sonic Adventure 2.

That leaves only Shadow's actor as the big mystery surrounding this movie. My guess is he, along with the first trailer, will be revealed at Comic-Con.

  3. As an international fan who's dying to see Minus One but can't since it seemingly isn't getting a theatrical release in my country, I'm actually in favour of it landing on demand as soon as possible. It already did what it needed to do, and then some.

  4. Between The Boogeyman's unremarkable performance, and the Star Wars baggage Daisy Ridley has been saddled with, keeping the theatrical release limited is understandable. If it performs well, then they can expand it later in the summer. But even if it underperforms and goes to Disney+ without a wider release, the small scale of the release will ensure Disney will barely lose anything on it, and at least the movie will qualify for the Oscars. So Disney wins either way. They can even use this is a litmus test to see if Ridley can still carry a movie even after her last vehicles were destroyed by studio incompetence, and decide what to do with the in-development Rey movie.

Think Tenet still holds the record for lowest 3-day wide domestic opening for a $200m+ budgeted production at $9.3m, though obviously that comes with a huge asterisk. This should be second-lowest?

Tenet should not count, as barely any theaters were open in the US when it launched during extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime circumstances. Argylle is opening in a fully operational marketplace devoid of any real competition that could use more movies to bide its time until Dune 2 properly starts the year. It has no excuse to open this low, unless the movie is unappealing and unwatchable. Our distributor likely saw what was coming and scaled back the release in my country significantly, thus it won't be playing in my area and I won't be able to see it in theaters, so I can't say for myself how bad it truly is. Hopefully our denizens will enlighten us in the weekend thread tonight.

Len Wiseman making a mess isn't too surprising. Entrusting him with a beloved property like John Wick is almost as bad as giving the Cloverfield Paradox guy a Captain America movie. And now both studios are paying the price by having to essentially remake their respective movies, possibly making them even worse as seen by Josstice League. If I was a shareholder for either I'd be pissed and call for their heads.

I wonder if the Deadpool 3 people right now are like uh Yeah Matthew we are good we don't need you hyping up our movie.

The DC brass is the one who should be concerned, since they supposedly have him attached to The Authority. That'll most likely not be case anymore after Argylle bombs, but considering Andy Muschietti is apparently still attached to their Batman reboot, they might just try to make it work instead.

It could not be said too many  times that Dune  Part 2 can  not come soon enough.

Between Barbie last year, Dune 2 this year and possibly Superman next year, Warner can gain a lot of leverage on exhibitors by essentially supplying them with gallons of water in a scorching hot, desolate desert. If they play their cards right they can become the next Disney, or at least the closest thing to it.

I talked about this in the last weekend thread

because I always remembered that was the premise when they announced the movie and I guess they only decided it was a twist later.

    Spoiler

It's Black Adam all over again. Warner also randomly decided a plot point revealed in the first trailer was a big twist they wanted to hide.

This also reminds me of Don't Worry Darling, where the leaked script from ages ago turned out to mostly be the movie we got, despite Olivia Wilde trying to deceive people into thinking the final story was different.

The movie's already falling apart if the recent tracking thread updates are any indication. The bad reviews are really going to kill this since it doesn't have the novelty factor that saved some other bad movies like Mario and Freddy's.

A lot of people online can’t seem to handle the idea that “scheduling issues” can sometimes actually be scheduling issues. Especially after two strikes.

The truth most likely lies somewhere inbetween. Scheduling issues probably were major factors to both departures, but Marvel's recent woes may have influenced their views and led them to ultimately move on to greener pastures.

Good for Viswanathan getting the increased exposure but has to sting for the project overall that it's now lost two actors that have been in the midst of major awards sweeps in recent weeks.

Yeah, this is a pretty bad omen for Marvel. And I have a feeling they won't be the last to jump ship. Who's to say that, for example, Pedro Pascal won't decide to drop out of Fantastic Four? Or what if Mahershala Ali decides he's had enough and leaves too?

I'm guessing Mean Girls takes back #1 after Amazon/MGM projected a small -35% drop for Beekeeper yesterday, that's not happening.

As a foreigner, I'm going to assume the potency of football in American culture is why January and February are usually wastelands as far as movie releases are concerned. Every year I see Sunday numbers dropping like rocks because of these games.

It sounds like this is separate from the Eyes of Wakanda thing.

There are people mad at the idea of someone being a new Iron Fist who I guess must not have watched the actual Iron Fist show or how it ended or who was Iron Fist at the end of it.

    sddefault.jpg

A character like Danny Rand, a white man as a mystical martial arts master, just isn't going to fly in this day and age. The Loeb regime was already hit with cultural appropiation accusations during the Season 1 promotional campaign, so I don't blame Feige for not wanting to stoke those flames. Hopefully this new Iron Fist will indeed be Colleen Wing instead of a lame original character. Her actress is even of Chinese descent to boot!

On another note, there have been a lot of conflicting hints from the scooperbro circle regarding Daredevil that surfaced today. Without getting into detail, I'll just say that not only might the creative reboot be exaggerated, but the final result might anger the fans more than if they'd gone ahead with their original plans.

    Keep telling yourself that Lfmao

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm with @SpiderByte on this one. This source explicitly states it's not a full rewrite, but rather slight alterations to Friedman's script. I wouldn't be surprised if he still gets a screenplay credit for the final film on top of the story credit he'll no doubt get. I don't blame you in the slightest for feeling the way you do after how much of a letdown Marvel's slate has been these past couple of years, but I'll hold off on worrying unless we start hearing some truly troubling news from the production. At least they've learned from what happened to their Daredevil sequel and are writing any potential issues out before cameras roll. That has to count for something.

The review embargo does not drop until next wednesday. All to preserve a big twist supposedly. Sacrificing the OW for legs I guess is the strategy.

That sounds more like Apple and Universal know they're sitting on a dud and are trying to slow down the inevitably bad word of mouth as much as they can. I don't buy that "spoiler" excuse in the slightest. This isn't a Marvel movie.
