  2. Well I think it's clear that Smith is winning for this one. I have yet to watch it. As far as box office is concerned, I think this will have a lower opening than we're expecting, primarily because of the HBO Max, and it feels like a "stay at home"/family movie. I'm predicting 5-6 million $ opening, although if the audience really goes for it, 9-10 million $ are doable.
  3. I’m still seeing this doing a bit less and debuting in 30’s in the US. 34-6 million $.

  5. Well “The Last Duel” is quite a pleasant surprise. I hope this is at least half as good as TLD.
  6. I’m sure it’s at least decent. But I can see this missing all the nominations in the end besides the make-up.
  7. It's interesting how Venom is shaping up to be the third biggest film of the year. So far only Shang Chi is ahead, and Spider Man will be.
  8. NOVEMBER 12-14: 1. "Eternals" - 28.1 / 119.4 2. "Clifford" - 9.3 / 14.9 3. "Dune" - 4.2 / 91.8 4. "No Time To Die" - 3.7 / 149.6 5. "Venom 2" - 3.0 / 201.7 6. "Ron's Gone Wrong" - 2.6 / 21.2 7. 9. NOVEMBER 5-7: 1. "Eternals" - 71.8 2. "Dune" - 6.7 / 83.0 3. "No Time to Die" - 6.0 / 143.0 4. "Venom 2" - 3.9 / 196.4 5. "Ron's Gone Wrong" - 3.1 / 17.1 6. "The French Dispatch" - 2.5 / 8.3 7. "Annaatthe" - 2.2 8. "Halloween Kills" - 2.1 / 89.5 9. "Antlers" - 1.9 / 7.6 10. "Spencer" - 1.8 11. "Last Night in Soho" - 1.8 / 7.6 12. "My Hero Academia" - 1.4 / 9.6
  10. "Eternals" is opening just as I predicted (I had it's friday on 30-32 million $ range). I'm expecting 24.5 million $ Saturday and 17 million $ Sunday. 25-6 million $ second weekend. 170-180ish total.
  11. I liked the film, but I didn’t love it. Stewart is amazing though. The score is perfect. There’s something off with the supporting characters, but I can see this bombing on box office, especially since Neon cut down the number of theaters. But when it comes to Oscars - it’s her or Jessica Chastain.
  12. I’m still curious to see what will this one do. I have a feeling that 45 million $ 3-day weekend and around 70 million $ 5-day is what we should expect. It would be great to see it doing better but HBO Max + Christmas time where people will probably want to see something “lighter”.
  13. Oh… Ok. Well, I’m seeing it tomorrow. I hope it grosses more than 1.5 million $ in 996 theaters. I was hoping for a wider release.
  14. That’s why I lowered my opening weekend predictions (71-74 million $), but a heavier second weekend drop - 62-65%.
  15. Ends was never a question. It's 100% happening. But OS for HK is going to end up around 40-45 million $. That worries me more than the US drop, which, especially these days, is ok. 50+% overseas drop (and mind you - it was theatrical only elsewhere) shows the drop in interest for "Halloween" franchise, since the 2018 film made 96.1 outside the US. I think "Ends" will make more money in the US, but I'm not expecting big improvement outside the States.
  16. In a way, but I have a feeling that wom is not going to do anything, even if it comes from MCU fans. I can see a 30 million $ opening day (with previews) and then it will drop to 23 and 18 probably (Saturday and Sunday). Even Box Office Report lowered the expectations, even though they heavily relied on Fandango's statement how the pre-sales broke all the records.
  17. NOVEMBER 5-7: 1. "Eternals" - 71.2 2. "Dune" - 7.1 / 81.2 3. "No Time To Die" - 4.6 / 140.9 4. "Venom 2" - 3.4 / 195.4 5. "Spencer" - 2.5 6. "The French Dispatch" - 2.2 / 7.5 7. "Halloween Kills" - 1.9 / 89.4 8. "My Hero Academia" - 1.9 / 9.2 9. "Antlers" - 1.8 / 7.0 10. "Ron's Gone Wrong" - 1.8 / 15.0 11. "Last Night in Soho" - 1.6 / 6.6 12. "The Addams Family 2" - 1.3 / 54.5 NOVEMBER 12-14: 1. "Eternals" - 25.9 / 112.8 2. "Clifford" - 10.3 / 15.2 3. "Dune" - 3.3 / 87.3 4. "No Time To Die" - 2.7 / 145.4 5. "Belfast" - 2.3 6. "Venom 2" - 1.8 / 198.1 7. "Spencer" - 1.4 / 4.6 8. "The French Dispatch" - 1.3 / 9.5 9. "Antlers" - 0.9 / 8.3 10. "Ron's Gone Wrong" - 0.9 / 16.3 11. "Last Night in Soho" - 0.7 / 7.7 12. "Halloween Kills" - 0.5 / 90.3
  18. I'm predicting 2.3-2.4 million $ for HK next weekend. 92-3 million $ total. As for "Dune" - 7.2-7.4 million $ third weekend, and I suppose - 97ish million $ total, unless it shows those "Oscar legs" which most of you are predicting, but I highly doubt it will. Nominations are in February, and by then, this film will be dead and gone from theaters.
  19. I wouldn’t underestimate “King Richard”. It will certainly attract the black audience, especially because of the story, and Will Smith’s star power, and most probably bring in other groups among younger demographics, I’d say it can open in mid to upper teens.
  20. US - 95-105 million $ China - 40-45 million $ Aus - 10-15 million $ Rest - 215-225 million $ Worst case scenario : 360 million $ Best case scenario: 390 million $ If it shows some additional legs in the US during the award season and slightly stronger Chinese total - 400 million $ is not impossible.
  21. I love “Matrix”, I remember seeing it in theaters when I was 11. But, truth to be told, although it gained cult following, I’m not sure will it draw enough audience to theaters around Christmas because people will be looking for something lighter to watch, and surge of Covid cases + HBO Max as an alternative won’t work in it’s favor. God forbid if the critics are not liking it, I’d prepare myself for a 40-45 million $ three day opening (65-70 million $ five day).
  22. I guess with this whole Covid case surge in China, we could expect NTTD's total to be around 60 million $. Australia? I'd say anywhere between 15 and 25 million $. Overall, 145ish million $ in the US, 60 million $ in China, let's say 18 million $ in AUS. The rest of the world? 480 million $? 700 million should be "in the bag". However, I can see this underperforming in AUS due to the Covid situation as well.
