  1. Hmmm… How good were they at predicting before this? I would say that Avatar 2 could go either way, exceeding the first one’s numbers or being greatly overlooked if the gp doesn’t connect with it.
  2. I think this will open to 125-128 million $ in the US, with 315 million $ total.
  3. I guess this is getting that big expansion today. It went from 10 theaters on Thursday to 33 on Friday on Fandango in Los Angeles.
  4. I guess this will finish with around 22 million $ in the States, and I guess around the same or up to 25 million $ overseas.

  6. While I still believe “Avatar” will be the highest grossing film of the year, is it just me or does it seem like there is no buzz or interest from the public in it? Or maybe I’m sleeping on it.
  7. Don't want to sound harsh but which impact? I mean, outside the Marvel circles and it's fans, I haven't heard anyone talking about the first film, and I live here in LA. I would say it had it's moment because it was the first of it's kind, but anything more than that would be an overstatement. Even if the drop is softer Stateside, I can see a bigger drop coming overseas.
  8. Uhm… the first Black Panther was the first of it’s kind. Also it had Chadwick and Michael B. Jordan. This film will probably market as a POC female driven superhero film and I think it won’t replicate the success of it’s predecessor. Maybe I’m underestimating it, but anything above 400 million $ is an overestimation imo.
  9. Well I'm watching this tonight, and it can't be worse than some of her other bad films. And I love JLo.
  10. I like it, I don't love it. If I can be honest, CGI looks a bit dated. I prefer more animatronics...

"West Side Story" - 0.5 / 38.0
  13. I would say "Avatar 2" is a given. "Lightyear" most probably, since TS4 grossed 434 million $ in the US. The only other "threat" is "Black Panther 2" if it really gets supported by the fans of the first one, but I could also see it finishing with 300-350 million $. "Avatar 2" is probably going to do 700-800 million $ domestically, and I put JW3 at 375-400 million $ as of now.

  16. I was doing a “realistic” box office predictions based on how it has performed so far: 1. USA - 753.5 million $ 2. Worldwide - 1,041.5 million $ Total: 1,795 billion $ 2 billion is really up in the air depending on China. If it get’s released I can see it making anywhere from 140 million $ on the lower and to like 300 million $ on the higher end.
  17. I wonder if they will give this another boost and expand it to 1000+ theaters after the Oscar nominations. But from what I can see, regardless of what they do, the total will be around 15 million $, which is fine.
  18. If this scores anything in terms of Oscar nominations it will be Production Design. But I can see it being completely ignored and then people will be “shocked”.
