  1. Spielberg refused to work with Cruise after he became crazy and unlikable. Cruise has been slowly re-building his image but to alot of people out there he's already put them off
  2. Avatar is the only hollywood movie that would likely cause the Chinese people to riot should it not be released. I personally don't think they will ban it, especially considering they recently gave the original a re-release. It's not like it has any character named Captain America
  3. Calling it 'easily' one of the best movies of tbe 21st century is a far worse opinion. It was boring. I remember hyping it up to everyone only to have to apologise to all the friends I convinced to watch it with me. They've never let that one go. Its visually pretty I guess but lets not pretend its some sort of masterpiece. Its a shitter 'Speed'
  4. Mad Max has to be the most critically overrated action movie of all time. Critics loved it, audience kinda liked it. I'm with audiences, it was ok but after that first hour it runs low on gas. It wasnt even one of the years best movies. I liked the colours though I guess
  5. Nah not for a film like this. If you want to convey and translate your message to over 100 different countries then it's best not to be so subtle. Simplicity was the reason for its worldwide success This bodes well. Vice is the Armond White of Journalism. I used to think they were pure satire but turns out they aren't. If Vice is talking Avatar down, you know it's going to be good
  6. In the UK masks have never been political it seems. We wore them when asked then stopped when it was no longer required
  7. Teaser looks special, this will make 1 billie domestically, seeing a lot of love online
  8. Avatar making just 400m in China is ridiculous should it get released. Thats just double the first movie despite a 20x market expanision. It will make more in China than any Marvel movie thats come before it
  9. It would after a month. Its box office suicide. Avatar is not the sort of movie to watch at home its a theatre movie
  10. I honestly dont think it opens lower, especially with inflation the past few years. We've never had a sequel to a movie this big before so the OW will be a wild card. If the movie delivers then I think it opening around 290m and eyes up a 4x multi.
  11. The issue here is, no-one other than Cameron could have made Avatar, or make it look as good anyway. Most directors would rather relesse 5 films in a ten year span rather than spending all their time on perfecting 1 movie
  12. Avatar had a good story, it was just recycled, much like every superhero movie which audiences still love
  13. This is just impossible unless some catalyst brings down the market late this year. That's the same opening as the first movie despite inflation
  14. Its funny when an article pops up on Facebook I do see alot of people compare it to Ferngully with a tonne of criticism yet comments from non English speaking countries do nothing but sing its praises. Fact is the highest grossing movie of all time will always have people pulling it down as a way to try and intellectually prop themselves up. Had Avatar only grossed 400m WW you could bet these same people would be calling it one of the most underrated blockbusters of recent memory
  15. Facebook with 2.8 billion users is though. The JK rowling controversy was no where near as widespread as the Depp/Heard issues over the last 2 years which even spawned a documentary. That's why one story kept making front page headlines whilst the other didn't. There was even millions of people petitioning to remove Amber for Aquaman 2, that's no small number to just brush off as "well thats not the real world" You dont have to believe it but it's true
  16. Trevorrow made the first mivie alot of fun which had great WOM so I'm confused why people think he's a bad choice
