If they could just hit the ball, they’d be one of the scariest teams in the game with that pitching staff. But that would require us to win more than 54% of our games, so I guess it can’t be part of the plan.

Exactly. And as long as people keep coming to T-mobile park Management is fine with things. Will see in these next few weeks

Yeah, I would definitely say next week is the end of the line for Bad Boys

Really thought summer weekdays would help it get to 200 DOM. Oh well still pretty good all things considered with the Smith factor possibly turning a small segment of the audience off and the 4 year gap this time not 17 blunting some of the anticipation.

It's kinda weird that he's not actually that young. He's paid his dues. He'll be 36 very soon here.

I would compare him to Harrison Ford in that respect. It's weirdly similar.  Ford had bit parts and supporting roles in stuff like American Graffiti and the Conversation but they were not paying the bills so he had to work as a carpenter to support his family and then A New Hope came out when he was 34 about to turn 35.  Powell has said he in interviews he has been close to homeless at times waiting for the breakout. Now all he needs is his Indiana Jones pure star role and he will never look back.

  4. Yes Deadpool 2 is the better movie by far. Still think 1 is good also. But the mixture of comedy, drama, and action is much better in 2.  The increased budget and David Leitch's action chops do not hurt. That is the one thing that worries me about DP and  W is Levy is not exactly known for his action chops.  But 2nd unit Director/Stunt  Coordinator George Cottle,  who handled that job for the Spiderman Trilogy pretty well,  is doing them.  Jon Watts directed those and him  and Levy are pretty similar in the way they pace and direct movies I think.

Take it from someone who remembers watching Twister in theaters. Half the theater braced before the truck plows into the house. People were dodging the tractors and combines as they fell from the sky. The tornados felt truly menacing. That type of atmosphere is missing here, it is just more than offset by the stronger characters.

Yeah the tornadoes did not feel as menacing as the original but it did not really bother me. Those sequences still did their job because of the script  and much stronger characters.  The one thing I wish was that there was a character as much fun as  PS Hoffman's Dusty.   Fooood  Foood We need sustinence.

  6. Loved Twisters. Might be my favorite movie of the summer.  Powell and Jones were great together. I love the original but this may be a better overall movie. Def a much better script and I cared about Kate Jones's character more than anybody in the original.  And the people saying the movie was boring and there was not much tornado action. Like what?  Were they even seeing the same movie.

The good thing for Twisters and it makes difference for overperformance is it attracts in 18-34 age range more than i anticipated . Twisters reminds me Dune 2 or Oppenheimer which attracts also younger persons and in big screens. Also Dune 2 has almost half of the audience as Caucasian Audience .

The problem with Twisters and the difference with the two other is the competition because next week , most of the 18-34 age , will see D&W so maybe he could down a lot , which was not the case for Dune 2 ( He had KFP 4 but with more family audience) and Oppenheimer ( Haunted Mansion underperformance) .

Exactly this is why people need to be cautious here. This weekend is great we do not need melting down next weekend if it takes a big hit.

    Also this:

Per PostTrak last night, 24% went to Twisters because of Powell.

Obviously still not comparable to storms and stuff, but not insignificant. It's the difference between an $80 mil opening and a $60 mil opening, his starpower is clearly rising.

People are comparing him to Chris Pratt but I think he has more potential than that esp if he does a better job with his PR. Like do not say dumb stuff on social media and not maybe be part of a weird religious group or something.

Heavy walk ups and summer days kinda make me think it's impossible for it not to have better legs than GxK.

Yeah most likely. Fingers Crossed. It seems like WOM  is better and it's not Fanboy driven like that was.  Still want to be cautious though. If it drops like 70% next weekend  to 25 or something, we are all going to be really bummed out.

Still too many ifs for a lock.  It could very well happen and it could very well not happen.

It's gonna need better legs than GXK since it will most likely open slightly under what that opened to. It will have stronger weekdays but that may be offset by having a 800 LB gorilla in it second weekend.  GxK had Monkey Man and the Omen prequel. God it would be nice to have one of these movie not do in the 180 -197 range.

Ouch. They probably should have just left it a Apple Exclusive. Gonna be interesting to see what the next movie after Wolfs and F1 is that they release theatrically.  I know they shot a Ryan Reynolds/ Kenneth Branagh movie directed by the Dungeons and Dragons guys called Mayday this spring. Not sure what other Big Budget stuff they are making. The Instigators with Matt Damon and Casey Affleck is being dumped and The Gorge the Scott Derickson movie with Miles Teller and Anna Taylor Joy sounds like it is a dud also.

You don't know that. Haven't had this kind of matchup before and it has consistently been surpassing expectations. Often when movies beat expectations opening weekend they continue to beat expectations the following weekends.

Yeah this is not like  Dead Reckoning last year which opened  up pretty much to where it was tracking and you could feel it's buzz getting swamped by Barbenheimer . This is doing better than tracking  and does not feel like it is getting swamped by Deadpool buzz. They seem to be coexisting.

I think Comic Book fans are stupid.

The lines from new trailer about "Wolverine being The X Man" is getting ridiculous reactions.

I mean who cares if Wolverine wasn't X Man in Comics or whatever, no one apart from comic junkies care about that, for entire world Wolverine osbTHE X Man.

And like let's be serious, no one really cares about Cyclops lol.

I'm mostly glad they seem to have left but would kind of like to see them with egg on their face right now.

Realistically though they'd probably just focus on the "ya but it's flopping overseas" part

Yeah they set up a alt account to troll Gladiator 2 because they had been warned already not to , got banned with the alt and have not been back since. Oh well
