  2. The MCU is back! Can not wait until next May when Thunderbolts opens and people bitch about Marvel opening up the summer.  I mean remember when Gosling and Blunt spent like 2 whole months selling the shit out the The Fall Guy and it blew up and became a massive hit. Oh wait no it didn't. I am only sort of joking. People were just not interested in that enough.  Twisters probably would have been big that weekend but because of the strikes it was not ready.

0.95x Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (w/ EA): $6.25 Million

    1.42x Fall Guy (w/ EA): $4.48 Million

1.34x Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom: $6.03 Million (17 theaters)

    3.16x Exorcist Believer: $9.02 Million (17 theaters)

With this being a horror franchise don't think expecting Apes type of walk-ups is that crazy, expecting for at least $6 Million previews for now

Looking good. Assuming RR's spouse does not knock him out of the number one spot in two weeks  a R rated Disney movie  might be number one until Beetlejuice opens on Sept 6.

So, to sum up the weekend thread...

    1. Deadpool & Wolvie definitely has a mixed WOM on this board...but either you love it or hate it (it's not mid), so the love group should ensure WOM doesn't fall off a cliff...

I do not think this board should ever be taken as a indicator of WOM among the GA/ Casuals. WOM seems great in the real world.

  5. This movie is so dam fun. That is all it needed to be. I was probably laughing the hardest during the Tatum Gambit stuff. Thank God we did not get that movie . Also the little Wolverine in the first of the multiverses he tours trying to find the right one. Yeah Emma Corrin did not have much to work with but still did a good job with the material given to them. Of the 3 movies it would go 2,  this, and then the first one for me.  The action is good but nothing beats Leitch's work on 2.

–Huge walk-up business with 41% saying that they bought their ticket day of.

–Parents took their kids as the Screen Engine/Comscore PostTrak report shows 18% adult family members with 9% children. EntTelligence further supports that the last five MCU movies (all PG-13) had 21% of their audiences under the age of 17. R-films typically have 5% of the audience under the age of 17, while Deadpool & Wolverine had 11% under 17. Not that Disney intended for this to happen, but, hey, the draw here is that it’s Marvel, a family brand and this movie is part of the multiverse.

–A big portion of the non-going movie public also came out with 30% saying that they go to the movies ever other month while 22% told PostTrak they only attend a few times a year.

–Evening and late night moviegoing was robust respectively with 30% coming out between 5PM-8PM and 16% after 8PM.

Updated, the Burbank AMC is still the high grossi

I really hope a huge portion of that 11% is like in the 13-17 age  range or something.  I am not sure  I want to know how much of the audience is under 10.

I’m excited for this one, sounds like Yelena has some huge stunts to do and I’m happy to see Lewis Pullman officially confirmed, some eye candy.

Was Taskmaster cut? I noticed she wasn’t there for the panel.

One of the footage descriptions I read said Taskmaster was in there. Maybe Olga was not available to come or something.

This is avenue of complaint is exhausting. People complaining about people not going to the movies and the ending of theatrical then complaining about there being movies people want to watch because they're not the films they personally want to see.  Complaining about the MCU refusing to die and then applauding the Minions 6th movie and Twisters is a bit much.

This forum in a nutshell sometimes.

I guess they can, but we literally won't know if that will be true until Secret Wars comes out in a couple of years.

I'm just glad that if he was coming back that he wouldn't be playing Iron Man and for now, that seems like the case. Considering this man's range as an actor, I cannot wait to see how he portrays Doctor Doom.

Exactly. On one hand yeah there are other actors they could have cast but just the curiosity factor alone makes this exciting and how they are going to pull it off. He's a great actor and he would have been a great choice even if he had not played Tony Stark all these years.

How is Twisters a part of this conversation? It made only $10 million Friday to Deadpool's ~55 million true Friday. Whereas Barbie and Oppenheimer were both coexisting really well.

Huh they are talking about the combined total for the two movies. Barbenheimer did about  244 162 for Barbie and 82 for Oppie.  If DP and W does at least 210 and Twisters does at least 35+ than they made more. Pretty simple. It will be close but possible.

Since they already got the cap trailer out I’m betting they will show and release online the trailer for Thunderbolts. I also expect them to give us the full schedule for the four years and basically the end of the multiverse saga.

Maybe they will move F4 to November. What’s interesting we basically know nothing about the post 2025 schedule? Yes two avengers movie and Blade? I would hope they announce:

    Thor 5

    DS3

    BP3

    X-Men

    Shang-Chi 2

I don’t expect any Spider-Man given no director etc.

Basically whole of Phase 6. It’s hard to know tho given they’re meant to slow down. Maybe they will just do Blade and Avengers in 2025?

That would show huge confidence in Thunderbolts if they made the trailer public a little over 9 months out.  Strike while the iron is hot makes sense and the MCU conversation  is positive for the first time in a while. With DP and W blowing up and if they are able to fix CA BNW and make it at worst decent and then Thunderbolts and F4 deliver by this time next year things could be in a really good place.

  12. This is pretty gross. For some reason it does not surprise me with Coppola though. He's always seemed like he could be that type.  I always continue to live in fear that stories about Spielberg like this come out one day.  I mean you do hear behind the scenes stories that he is much more ruthless and cut throat than the now  public grandfatherly persona he projects but at least no stories about him being a complete pervy old man.  Oh well it's not like I am going to throw out my Godfather DVDS and stop watching them. It gets to the point where one would have to stop watching or throw out 90% of their Blu ray collections if based on how disgusting so many Hollywood people are.

It's getting a DBOX back at Canton next week. The hold looks worse because of the PLF rush Wednesday but still pretty solid comparing to Mondays of other action tentpoles that lost PLF on the Thursday. If it matches Jason Bourne weekend pattern it's still on pace for high 30s.

Yeah not sure what the upset is here. No way in hell it was dropping less than 50% High 30s would be great for the weekend.

  14. 12 minutes ago, AniNate said:

If it follows Bourne's daily increases this weekend:

    10.9
    15.7
    10.4

$37 mil, which would be pretty solid under the circumstances

That would be great. Like I said on the weekend thread the release date was not great but they stuck with it and still made way more money on OW than most around here thought it would even a day before release. And maybe just maybe it will make the same amount in the end just do it in a different way. People around here love  to armchair qb what might of and should have happened  with no proof it would have.
