The Box Office Buzz, Tracking, and Pre-Sale Thread
emoviefan replied to Shawn Robbins's topic in Box Office Discussion
Honestly I don't think the Qurom numbers mean much to the last few weeks before release. Like the warning signs were there for the Fall Guy in these last few weeks and Apes is looking pretty strong in it's final few weeks. -
And guess what movie turns 25 on Tuesday. Love that movie. It's so dam rewatchable. I watch it every year and I will def be watching it this week. But yeah actually Twisters started the early May kickoff to summer 3 years earlier. Another one of my rewatchables. I will be watching that again before the sequel/reboot/remake whatever it is comes out.

Yeah those Apes numbers are pretty promising. If the reviews match the reactions then it should do at least 50 maybe even 60. That would be great. It would make next weekend much better than what we are going through right now. -
The BO is terrible. The end. What more is there to say at this point. As for the The Fall Guy. It did not connect for whatever reason. People have been giving their reasons and will keep giving their reasons. Too inside Hollywood, Gosling and Blunt don't open movies, it looked like a Netflix movie despite the reviews being much better than any of those pump and dump mockbusters they churn out. Could go on and on. To try and be on the positive side, The A- CS means the people seeing it are enjoying it. So legs might be good. It should be able to counter program Apes next weekend. I mean if Anyone But You can can open up to a 6 million weekend and leg it to 88. That'a a IM of 14. This should be able to have strong legs. But who knows. We are in weird times.

Would like a theatrical marketplace where both the Fall Guy and Apes do well but that ain't the world we live in so will have to just take one of them I guess/hope. -

Really think KOTPA has a chance to surprise next weekend. If the reviews are strong and back up the early reactions. The tracking and metrics on The Qurom have been strong and if even if the Presales for Previews do not look like a big breakout the Caesar trilogy all had strong Walkup and IM's from previews if I recall. -
Really don't understand the talk of if they wait until June that is concerning and means they are down on the movie. Like what? That is still 5 months from release. Waiting until Quiet Place Day One would be just fine and they could put it in front of Horizon Part 1 that weekend too. Although Would not be surprised if they do it earlier and put in front of Furiosa or BB:ROD which are R rated and they could do a red band trailer.

Going to see The Fall Guy most likely on Sunday. Hope I enjoy it as much as others seem to be. Everything else is out of my hands. As others have said this movies failure or underperformance is not the death knell for theatrical moviegoing or something. Next week will be better. If Apes is good as the early reactions are saying that should do at least 50 million. The tracking and Qurom metrics have always been much better for that. Why didn't Disney just move it to this weekend when they delayed D and W. I plan to watch the Nice Guys tonight. Love that movie. Seems fitting to watch one Ryan Gosling action comedy that missed at the BO and deserved to do better to prepare for another one.

To counter the doom and gloom going on here, before the official preview numbers come in and we see if WOM leads to Walkups this weekend and going forward, March proved people want to go to the movies. All 4 of the big movies either met or beat expectations. Even GB:FE considering how uttterly eh and bleh it is got over 100 million and has held pretty well. People may just have never bought in the Fall Guy and people have given many valid reasons that might be. It's the movies people go see what they want when they want and yes that has changed because of Covid and Inflation and all that. If we are still having this conversation in June after BB:ROD , IO2, and QP Day 1 open than yeah things are fucked.

Fast XI does not even start shooting until 25 according to Tyreese so that will probably 26 I would assume. -

One area reports positive trend for the Fall Guy the next is much more negative. Maybe it is best to just wait till morning and see where it lands.
