    It is interesting that Variety is going with 30 million and Rival studios are saying 35-40 potential. Maybe they are seeing something more positive than what is being seen here by the trackers. Would be nice.

    Yep I am going to stop doom posting. I used to hate and make fun of those who did and now I am doing it.And this is not the thread for it. I am going to hope for a pleasant surprise this weekend. Presales are not everything. Walkups can surprise. And if not nothing I can do about it. Just go enjoy the movies coming out and tell people they are missing out.

    I know. I am one of the people who pushed back on you with that and got annoyed but when something as mainstream and by most accounts dam good as the Fall Guy and stars two people from the marketing phenon of last year is seen as to risky and unfamiliar to audiences then we are in some weird unpleasant place. I don't know maybe it will shock the hell out of us and the walkups will blow up this weekend. Probably not but going to keep hoping

    The one silver lining The Fall Guy has right now is assuming WOM is good to great and with no massive openers to follow it should have legs. It wont turn it into a money maker but maybe save a little face. That's going to be all of May I guess not great openings and maybe legs.I am grasping here I know.

    The fact that this movie may be going from a mild disappointment to a possibly outright bomb now. What do people want? So it has to be 95-100% or something on RT now for a movie like this to break out. Sigh

    And that next action movie to succeed will be Bad Boys Ride Or Die a presold no risk at all movie for people. The new one despite the strong reviews and buzz people are like eh don't want to chance it.

    I think the walkups will surprise for the Fall Guy but that may not mean much since our expectations are going to be so low. Like 25-30 for the weekend will be the guess so if it does 30-35 it will be a surprise even though that is a not good at all considering the budget.And at that point hope the WOM is really good and you can get people to come off the fence and check it out. Not holding my breath though.

    Ryan Gosling should be used to this. Probably having flashback to the NIce Guys which some have compared the Fall Guy to. All the buzz and great reviews and audiences just did not care one bit. The Fall Guy will do better for sure but it is also a bigger budgeted movie with higher expectations.

    You are right. It's just one movie. I am not even sure why I care that much. Have not seen the movie yet.Plan to this weekend and hope I really enjoy it and agree with the positive reviews. I think I am just going down the rabbit hole of how terrible the BO is right now and really hoped it would break out and give some life to the marketplace. Maybe the walkups will surprise and it will have great WOM and legs or maybe it will get beat by TPM this weekend. Will see.

    If the Fall Guy does not break out in any way OW or have legs because of WOM than that means people really don't want original well reviewed mainstream movies. It's that simple. Yes it's not really an original but to most people it is. Because it's easier to get excited for crap like Mufassa.

    It looks like this just had it's press screening for the regular critics that did not see it at SWSW or CinemaCon. The reactions are Good to great. Maybe this will finally goose the sales or maybe it's just too late and people just don't care. Hope for the former fear the latter.

    UH OH I was going to ask when the embargo drops. Considering how well reviewed the Ceasar trilogy was this makes me nervous. It could be Disney just being too cautious. I mean the social reaction being dropped Thursday would seem they don't expect a terrible reaction but maybe just decent okay nothing that turbo charges ticket sales.

    The Fall Guy will probably be number one. I think. But it may be closer than anybody would have thought possible.

    This is the problem. People claim they want more movies like this and when they get them they either don't see them or are underwhelmed because it's not the massive blow up em up CG fest they claim they are sick of. I think People don't know what they actually want sometimes.

    Maybe it's just me and I have watched enough trailers but I could figure that out watching the trailer the first time. Studio's do this all the time editing trailers to make seem things different.

    Uh yeah Kevin Costner did a big presentation to it and everything. And Empire City literally says in his tweet the buzz on the movie is that it's fantastic. Although he may be full of shit so who knows.

    Saw Ministry Of the Long title today. 😃 Really liked it. This movie did not deserve to bomb. If Lionsgate had put some effort into it but oh well. Henry Cavill and Guy Ritchie are two for two in my book. Too bad neither this or Man From Uncle were hits. Love WW2 men on a mission movies and this delivered. And holy shit this was the best Ennio Morricone score that he himself did not do.

    My anticipation for this trailer is about the complete opposite what it was for last monday's trailer for a Disney movie.

    Are they just throwing that 40 million out there or do they see something that supports that.You never know with Deadline. At this point I would take that number if legs and WOM are strong.
