  1. Since we are talking about toys, is it safe to assume that Aquaman would also sell toys? Though I guess any of the benefits from the franchise would have been sowed after the first movie. I remember Aquaman used to be this uncool character in popular culture. Especially in The Big Bang Theory lol. But after Jason Mamoa's Aquaman, this superhero became cool.
  2. I was disappointed that Michelle Yeoh had such a small part but she was definitely amazing in it. The highlight of the movie for me. But overall the movie was kind of flat compared to some of the other Agatha Christie adaptations.
  3. If The Holders win then it's just going to be another Oscar winning film that most people don't care about, but it's not surprising I guess.
  4. I agree. But narratives are a thing...and he's trying very hard to campaign, so who knows.
  5. He has an Instagram and cheered for Lily I think.
  6. Even as a Nolan fan I am prepping myself not to have my hopes up high too much so I don't get disappointed. The academy always have surprises, who knows if the voters will love Oppenheimer. And if a big chunk of the academy members behave like this anonymous ballot: https://insessionfilm.com/op-ed-anonymous-oscar-ballot-1-an-insession-film-exclusive/ Then we are in for a disappointment. I am definitely getting off internet if that happens lol I am guessing this year's Oscars view numbers are going to be really great with the Barbieheimer hype. Twitter will probably explode if something surprising happens.
  7. I guarantee you the majority of Barbie fans out there haven't watched Greta's previous works lol I am not saying she doesn't have a fanbase but most of those complaining probably only watched one or two movies this year and have no idea how the academy works.
  8. I do think this year is the perfect timing for the academy to award a movie that's both a box office success and a critics darling, but the academy does what it does sometimes so who knows lol
  9. I thought it was 955M? Honestly I am confused which site is the most accurate nowadays.
  10. It's extra annoying because none of these people seemed to care about other women getting snubbed until it's Barbie.
  11. This discourse is peak white girl feminism. This year has a record amount of female directed movies nominated in BP. Also Lily Gladstone is the first Native American to be nominated in Best Actress. All this overshadowed by the Barbie snub discourse when both Greta and Margot weren't even the front runners. The academy had way worse misogynistic, homophobic, racist snubs in the past but ofcourse people only care about Barbie lol I did like Margot and Greta over other nominees that made the cut, and I do think Hollywood and the academy's misogynistic overall, but these two "snubs" really aren't it. Margot's against other actresses and the academy loved Greta for her other non-blockbuster films. I hate how people are making this political and turning it into a conspiracy theory.
  12. To be honest, this year in particular, I could care less about the VFX snub lol there are other categories that I care much more about.
  13. Apparently the industry insiders love Maestro, whomever they are.
  14. Jason Mamoa as Aquaman has always been pretty likable to the general public, and despite being part of the old DCEU I think a lot of people don't associate him with it. I never understood why people think it would do worse than The Marvels. People are really blinded by the success of Captain Marvel which can be 99% attributed to Endgame.
  15. It will probably be back on 70mm on and off until the Oscars. As long as you have a 70mm theatre near you I think you have other chances.
  16. I don't think Oppenheimer's going to completely leave the theatres until like after the Oscars.
  17. You are right lol this is my first year following the entire awards season because of Nolan. I was one of those that teared up at his speech because I was a fan of Heath Ledger. It was because of him that I watched TDK and became a fan of Nolan. It meant a lot to me.
  18. A Star Is Born is really the only movie people think he deserved an Oscar for and people are acting like he's Leo who's been churning out great movies for years.
  19. At this point I think the "desperate" narrative is more widespread than the "overdue" narrative.
  20. I never understood why Bradley Cooper is considered a frontrunner since he didn't get a lot of critics win. But I guess he was always suppose to be an industry player. SAG would probably be his biggest chance?
