I never understood why Bradley Cooper is considered a frontrunner since he didn't get a lot of critics win. But I guess he was always suppose to be an industry player. SAG would probably be his biggest chance?
It's just way too soon for a HP TV series, especially if it's on the same seven books. In 20 years time MAYBE. As someone who grew up with the books and movies, the image of the movie actors are embedded in my mind almost permanently. I feel like I would be prejudiced no matter how good the series is.
As someone who knows nothing of the original movie and novel, I saw the trailer and thought it looked uplifting and fun. Then I wiki-ed it and was like holy that's really depressing.
I am honestly curious if Maestro is really as big of a contender as people predicted. I know Bradley Cooper's suppose to be an industry favourite, but he really didn't win too much of critic love. The film's target audience also seems to be really niche. I guess we will see at the GG.
I saw the trailer, thought it looked like a fun movie, looked up the plot of the book and found out some of it is just really disturbing. Instantly changed my mind about watching it. I also think people just want to watch something light and fun and warm during the holidays.
I will probably put it in the background when it comes out but I am definitely not excited for it like I am for something like The Boys. With the amount of money and time spent on it, it's ridiculous they couldn't make something that's even half as good as the LOTR.
Hard disagree. The Hobbit movies weren't as good as the original trilogy obviously, but they were still enjoyable blockbusters. The TV series was boring as hell. They had an entire season to tell the story but somehow everything seems so disconnected. The casting was also just off. Most of the elves didn't even feel like the ethereal creatures they were suppose to be. The only characters that felt elf like were Arondir and Adar.
Anecdotal observation from Chinese social media platform, apparently it was either promoted as a prequel to Depp's version or they didn't clarify it was a prequel to the 1971 version, so a lot of people were disappointed. It still had decent reviews in China though I think.
It‘s just that she didn't make it on a lot of critics' lists so I am worried that she won't get nominated. But this is the first time I am following the Oscar race closely so I don't exactly know what's going on.
I was searching Oppenheimer movie times near me, and suddenly there are like 7 theatres near me that are playing it again (albeit not IMAX). Last month there were only two or three theatres near me playing. I thought the rerelease was in January. So many rereleases I lost count. I am in Vancouver by the way. Are the other movies really just not filling seats so they are playing Oppenheimer again? But I would imagine a 5 month old movie wouldn't fill that many seats either.
That's interesting. I would've thought it would be Barbie, but I guess Barbie is more of a well-known household name so people wouldn't search it after they watch a movie.
