That it has a big fan base and it be a big date movie. If only 5m people who read the book go and see a movie. If half those bring a date with 8.25 being the average ticket price it would make 61m. Plus there be people who did not read the book that will want to see what all the fuss is about. Plus it was first female target demo film in months. I have not read the book but I want to see the movie.
WTF was this movie. It was so boring and dull. The characters were dumb in this movie. The concept was cool but the whole execution was terrible. What the hell was up with Will thing at the end and nobody died?

Better than Transformers but the movie was dumb but that made it funny. Acting by Megan Fox was terrible. Shredder felt wasted, he was never given a motive and was barely in the movie. The turtles were okay, they were at least given characterization compared to Transformers. I did like some parts since as kid, I loved the 90s show. I like the references like "hero's in a half shell"

Overall I liked the move. I loved the book so I am bias to this. Bridge and Streep do a great job. One my favorite parts was the memory scenes. I thought they were well done and were the best done. I liked the idea of having a love interest which helps strengths the message from the book. But overall I thought the film was rushed. I film like the movie rushes the memory sequences and I liked in the book when main character could remember somethings like when felt hungry in the memory and he felt as a child one day. I feel like in the movie they gave Meryl Streep emotions but negative ones. The movie overall could have been better but it works nicely.
