Looks like a weekend movie. I am expecting to have sub-50% drop this weekend for something very close to $30M. In order for RN to hit close to $70M by Monday it needs to do more than $10M. Unfortunately MIRN is made for older audience which does not flood the theaters or camp out like Twilight or Marvel crowds.

Riley is doing Prometheus 2 next. Yay!

AoU should at least hit $500M. To be frank the movie is entertaining and Marvelites pushed it to where it is but GA is tired of the whole Avengers thing. DC/Warner should offer something else with BvS now that the GA is getting tired of the superhero genre. Burnout is happening ...now.

MI5 stays flat on Saturday

No, not Cuaron, he will not cut away from the car chase. Ever.

MI5 just did $20M on Saturday and everybody is talking about Nolan's Interstellar, Dubai scene, and Jeremy Renner with magnets?

While I love all the action scenes in MI5 more than most folks here, the 3rd act is my problem and it is the most blah, ordinary of all the scenes in the movie.

Should have seen it on IMAX

If you see the way they shoot that bike chase, you will come out thinking that GP is really made for seniors with walking canes.

You have Batman, Ray Donovan, Hulk, Dr Manhattan, Roger Sterling, and uh, the..girl from True Detective in a single movie. I am in.

Anybody can comment on the IMAX DMR ? Any good?

But if you combine RN's awesome bike chase with MI1's CIA vault scene & GP's Dubai spiderman scene, you have a troika of spy movie essential ingredients.

But I think that level of stunt driving shown in this movie reaches a new level of awesomeness. If FF7 is a very fulfilling fast food full of fat & carb, MI:RN is like a plate of gourmet burger. I wish they do something more with the action (the plane sequence, the final chase & fight) but the presentation displays old fashioned skill and I appreciate that. The sound design in that scene should earn the movie at least a Sound FX Editing nomination. The theater exploded into laughter at the way Ilsa ended the motorbike chase. Very bad-ass.

No doubt, MI5 is a high quality movie but I feel they miss the opportunity to do something truly special with that airplane scene

She does that move 2 or 3 times in the movie. And she loves People's Elbow too. Very hot, very convincing

Can Monaghan do this : She did it 3 times in the movie. And when she gave one of the bad guys the People's Elbows, I think the male audience was in heaven.

Domestic has a bit of gas left about $20M. Japan probably does about $30M, and the rest of OS will do $10M more. So $1.6B WW is very doable!

While we are on the subject :

If Fast & Furious franchise can take it to No. 8 and 9 (very possible), why can't MI series which I think has better action, script, acting, and photography. And yes: NO crummy-looking CGI, baby!!! Re: action scenes: that's how you shoot chase sequences, with bad-ass wide angle lenses. The poorly composed, fast-cutting of FF & Transformers movies are looking lamer & lamer nowadays.
