    $6B to buy out Marvel form Disney? I heard that story. Universal has made more money in the traditional genres, action, horror, thriller, edgy R-rated fantasy stuff. The wholesome fantasy genre which Marvel benefits from is synonymous with Disney

    Look at their ambitious 2012 slate: Safe House, Contraband, Lorax started the year well for Universal but summer is another matter: Battleship, an unsuccessful attempt to do Transformers lite (actually not bad if you see it on BluRay) Snow White, a so-so attempt to do fantasy genre (kinda like it) Bourne Legacy, rather uninspired stuff, ends with the damsel-in-distress kicking the villain (what are they thinking?)

    Even the most optimistic people at Universal will be baffled by JW's run at the box office. Few people here predicted it earning more than $300M. I thought it would do LW/War of the World numbers: $220M - $230M. My most optimistic prediction put it at $350M which I myself said is kinda unlikely. Baffling, inexplicable

    Great buzz with Everest? The trailer looks to me like it is gonna be an awesome IMAX movie. IMAX & Arri have released a digital camera that allows filmmakers to shoot the entire movie on IMAX format. Ari has that awesome 65mm digital camera that is forever going to change large format photography.

    Robert Downey Jr stars in 5 Marvel movies that made more than $300M each. Solo ventures: The Judge $47M, Chef $31M Chris Evans helped Marvel earned a total of $1.5B domestically as Captain America Solo venture: Snowpiercer (a very good scifi movie) made less than $5M Chris Hemsworth as Thor, thunderous. As a Blackhat hacker, lame. Etc.

    Fox hit $5.4B WW in 2014. Universal is unstoppable. They still have Everest (yes, nice name for Universal in 2015), Jems & Holograms, Krampus & Sisters in the Fall/Holidays.

    F4 has a strong series of trailers. I really like the hype that Fox is building If this is the first F4 movie ever, I don't see how it cannot hit $200M. But too bad....

    MIRN should do at least $105M by end of this Sunday. Unless F4 breaks out like crazy. I would advise Paramount to run "see the No.1 movie in US on IMAX" ads before Friday.
