  1. Simon's the only judge on these shows I ever take remotely seriously, and even he is an old man predisposed to dislike any good thing just because he's stubborn and doesn't want to like it.And it really pisses me off how the crowds always boo the judges whenever they say something negative. Seriously, it's their fucking jobs to criticize them so they can improve their act because they obviously aren't perfect, stop mindlessly loving every performer.
  2. I watched the Jackson thing. My favorite is probably Drew, just because I like her voice and her Billy Jean cover was solid, but she seriously needs to do something other than a slow sit-in-a-chair piano song. It's the same shit every week, she needs to show some versatility.Oh, and every kid on the show needs to be eliminated. A show like this is no place for children, because they haven't matured yet and even if they win, they're going to get a contract and make an album when they aren't mature or smart enough to write a good one, so it'll either be a shitty album written by them or a shitty album written by the pop industry's "finest" producers and they'll be forgotten in ten years when they might actually be able to make something good. And seriously, these kids are fucking annoying.
  3. Well, that's what brings in the Emmy's and they are the better shows, but TWD needs and deserves the budget a bit more, I'd say.
  4. I don't understand the budget cut at all. They've got potentially the most successful cable drama ever on their hands. They were cautious in the first season by doing just 6 episodes in the first season, and when the show ends up being huge, they cut the budget on as safe a bet for success imaginable.
  5. Transformers 2, by far. Twilight is bad and all, give me New Moon or Twilight 1, we'll talk. But TF2 trumps every other movie in terms of crap.
  6. Best straight comedy of the year. Surprisingly dark. 8/10.
  7. It really sucks when there is a frontrunner, because you can always count on the Academy to be trite and choose it. I was begging for Basterds or Social Network to surprise, but I deep down new they wouldn't happen. Even if the film I don't want to win wins, I'd prefer it to be a surprise as opposed to a dreaded disappointment.
  8. Shane and Rick's actors do quite well, Norman Reedus is a solid actor if we haven't seen much out of him. Andrea's actor had a moment of brilliance in "Vatos", but I haven't seen much of her since. The show's well-written and good enough to keep me returning to it weekly. There's not really anything to steal my attention away from it.
  9. Yeah, I'd say so. Significantly more slow paced, but they've been consistently great episodes, and the midseason finale was fantastic.
  10. What? They're not supposed to be worried about what the minority thinks, they're supposed to be making a GOOD MOVIE. They aren't supposed to be pandering to any audience. They are supposed to be making a GOOD movie. GOOD movie. Not movie that entertains the fans or any specific group of people. Good movie.
  11. HelicopterMerleMorgan and DuaneDoctor's whisper in Rick's earI do hear speculation that could return in a potential story arc involving a that is presumably coming up soon.
  12. The first season was sorta mildly horror, this season is pretty much full-blown drama. Even though that scene where they hid under the cars was probably the scariest scene since the show started save maybe Rick falling off the horse in "Days Gone Bye".
  13. You're not supposed to pander to anybody, you're supposed to make the best movie possible, that should be the goal of any filmmaker. Critics are only reacting to what they see, analyzing objectively. You didn't say in your opinion, you said "Breaking Dawn is Oscar material compared to some other 'blockbusters' this year". The problem is, you seem to think quality is entirely subjective. And that apparently filmmakers are supposed to be making movies for an audience rather than to make a good film.
  14. When I asked a guy at school if he watched the Oscars, he said no and asked what won. When I told him The Hurt Locker won, he said he was surprised it wasn't Transformers 2. I walked away in disgust.
  15. You are completely entitled to your opinion, baumer, and I'm not announcing my taste as end-all-be-all, that's what you did and I called you out on. You can think whatever you want about any movie, as inane and ridiculous as I or anyone else may find it, but you can't dismiss critics because they're more qualified to determine what is a good movie or not than me or you are. I disagree with them all of the time. Why you were jumped on is, let's rewind:You said that many other blockbuster movies were garbage this year, and Breaking Dawn was far better than much of it.Somebody posted a list of blockbusters with critic consensuses next to them, showing the professional school of thought contrasted sharply with what you had just proposed as fact. You call them sheep because they can't think for themselves. You are all okay in thinking whatever you want, as am I and anyone else, but you can't insult one's individuality because they used popular opinion to dismiss your opinion, which was stated as fact.
  16. What are the bets for Carol killing herself next episode?
  17. She was bitten, wandered the woods, was found and hogtied in. What's to get?
  18. Well, he was only doing it to earn Hershel's trust in the fact that they'd co-operate in order to stay at the farm (which means an awful lot to him, given they'll have a baby to take care of in the near future).
  19. Well, I didn't mean every movie, I just meant, say, the studios decide to give the Academy whichever of their movies they have in mind for any award to screen, etc. etc.
  20. I hate the whole campaign push BS mentality of the Oscars. It should just be Academy members see all movies, vote at the end of the year.
