  1. This looks more kiddie friendly than Up and WALL-E. It should work in its favour. 70m/250m
  2. Kids, girls especially, won't feel that way.
  3. Just saw the Japanese trailer. Much better than the US ones. Real nice dreamy, Miyazaki quality to it.
  4. The great weather we had two weeks ago has brought about really weird box office numbers.
  5. Nikki: "But audiences only bestowed a so-so ‘B’ CinemaScore on Prometheus - because of huge plot holes big enough to drive Mack trucks through" Love the snark.
  6. It's nowhere near as bad as the GA have been led to believe, but it is too long, with unnecessary prologues that should have been cut out in editing, and McNulty was woeful casting. But whenever the Princess was on screen it was decent.B
  7. Maybe Prometheus will grow on me. Somehow I doubt it.Bottom line for me, I cared about what happened to Ripley in Alien 3, but didn't really care about anyone in Prometheus.
  8. I loved this movie during my teens and twenties, and considered it a masterpiece, but maybe I've outgrown it. The unrelenting bleakness of the whole thing. There are certain scenes which were just so appalling they made me wonder how I ever "enjoyed" it in the first place. Everything to do with "sloth" and "lust" were so painful and horrific I nearly stopped the DVD - something which never even entered my head all the previous times I've watched it.Technically it's still a marvel. Fincher makes beautiful-looking movies, and gets a great performance out of Morgan Freeman here. Plus Spacey needs to get off the London stage and back into the movies already.Still, not a movie I plan on revisiting again for a very long time, and it's out of my top 100.8/10.
  9. 100% agree with this. Prometheus is gonna die fast. I genuinely prefer Alien 3, and that's a movie with major problems.
  10. Don't you think a lot of the disappointing box office numbers are a result of The Avengers? Men in Black 3, for example, was a decent movie that would have made more if TA hadn't cleaned up.
  11. Really interested to see what the second weekend's gonna be, especially in UK and Aus. If it drops 55-60% it'll do the same in US next weekend.
  12. $10m made Mon-Thur must have been helped quite a bit by the two public holidays in the UK.
  13. Here's what I hate: movies that start really promisingly and get your hopes up for something genuinely special - incredible visuals, intriguing ideas being set up, a director you know has the capacity for greatness - then gets progressively worse and worse from that point on. This is the definition of that type of movie.Fuck this movie.3/10
