  1. Rachel Mc is NOT talented imo. Charisma vacuum more likely. Amanda S was the true talent of Mean Girls. Lindsay Lohan is a good actress too.
  2. But obviously studios see the potential. Or else they wouldn't give her so many chances.
  3. Agh, Gone flopped. But on the bright side, Amanda Seyfried is probably the only actress her age who studios trust to headline movies on her own on the regular. Older, more proven actresses need male co-stars. She has talent and her box office appeal, while limited for now, can expand. I'm gonna use big words, but she may be the next Meryl Streep, but with more BO pull.
  4. FRIDAY 10 PM: It’s another up weekend for the 8th straight week post New Year’s, +4% over last year. My sources say Relativity’s R-rated Act Of Valor is No. 1 based on the Bandito Brothers’ U.S. Navy fighting force tale (and using actual SEALs). Relativity acquired the rights to the project last June for $13 million and a $30 million in prints and advertising commitment - the biggest money paid for a finished film with an unknown cast at that time. Audiences gave it an ‘A’ CinemaScore, which Lionsgate’s romantic drama Good Deeds also received. The result is middling for Tyler Perry not crossdressing as Madea. Universal’s alleged comedy Wanderlust is bombing worse than expected while audiences gave it a ‘B-’ CinemaScore. The combination of Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd proved toxic to moviegoers. (FYI: this greenlight was the studio’s payback to director David Wain and producer Judd Apatow.) Also tanking is Summit’s thriller Gone starring Amanda Seyfried which earned only a ‘C+’ CinemaScore. I’m certain the Top 10 order will change by morning: remember that kids on the East Coast are out of school this weekend so family holdover Warner Bros’ Journey 2 may be stronger. Here’s the Top Ten (order determined by Friday grosses): 1. Act Of Valor (Relativity) NEW [3,039 Theaters] Friday $9.4, Est Weekend $27M 2. Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds (Lionsgate) NEW [2,132 Theaters] Friday $6.3M, Est Weekend: $17.5M 3. The Vow (Screen Gems/Sony) Week 3 [3,038 Theaters] Friday $3.2M, Est Weekend $9.7M, Est Cume $101.9M 4. Safe House (Universal) Week 3 [3,052 Theaters] Friday $3.1M, Est Weekend $10.3M, Est Cume $96.6M 5. Journey 2 3D (Warner Bros) Week 3 [3,350 Theaters] Friday $3.0M, Est Weekend $12.5M, Est Cume $77.2M 6. This Means War (Fox) Week 2 [3,189 Theaters] Friday $2.8M, Est Weekend $9M, Est Cume $33.2M 7. Ghost Rider 2 3D (Sony) Week 2 [3,174 Theaters] Friday $2.3M (-66%), Est Weekend $8M, Est Cume $36.3M 8. Wanderlust (Universal) NEW [2,002 Theaters] Friday $2.5M, Est Weekend $7M 9. Gone (Summit) NEW [2,186 Theaters] Friday $1.7M, Est Weekend $4.6M 10. Secret World Of Arrietty (Disney) Week 2 [1,522 Theaters] Friday $1.1M, Est Weekend $5M, Est Cume $14.2M http://www.deadline....2-wanderlust-5/
  5. Safe House' has early lead at holiday B.O. B.O. analysts have "Safe House" grossing between $6 million -$7 million Friday for a four-day cume of $24-$26 million, while Sony's "Ghost Rider" sequel, which opened Friday at 3,174 locations including 2,352 in 3D, is tracking slightly ahead Friday with $6.5 million -$7.5 million -- but it's expected to drop off to the low- to mid-twenties for the weekend. Reigning B.O. champ "The Vow," from Screen Gems/Spyglass, is also holding well, with bizzers pegging the film gross to gross in the low $20M's through Monday. The Channing Tatum-Rachel Adams romancer, directed by Michael Sucsy, has cumed $61.9 million through Thursday, thanks to a pre- and post-Valentines day surge, and could break the $100 million mark by next week. Warners' "Journey 2," meanwhile, is seeing a slight uptick from kids out of class for the Presidential holiday, grossing $4.5M to $5.5 million Friday for a four day take of $20 million-$21 million. Fox's romance actioner "This Means War," starring Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy, is currently in fifth place with a Friday estimated cume of $4.5 -$5.5 million and an expected four day tally in the mid-to-high teens. Disney's Studio Ghibli toon "The Secret World of Arrietty," another new release, should gross in the $1.5 million range Friday for a four day cume of $6-$7 million http://www.variety.c...le/VR1118050477
  6. I don't think it's the "goofy face". Shia Labeauf has a somewhat goofy face and he is good in action films. RR doesn't work in action. He doesn't have the presence, gravitas, no swagger.
  7. Pretentious fools. Rap music works wonders for action movies targeting teens and they're back in the cinemas this year
  8. SF trailer was badass. The music choice was inspired and it greatly helped, just like Eminem helped MI 4. GI Joe trailer is also cool with that jay z music. It hypes people. It's like drugs, raises the adrenaline
  9. Amazing numbers for the mid-budget movies. Next a big budget film will explode! The BO is hungry for it. Maybe JC?
  10. It was probably because Chris Evans was in the title. Neo, you need to advertise your threads better. The director is the selling point here
  11. wow How did i miss this thread?! This sounds intriguing. And the director of Memories of Murder. This is gonna be a good movie, for sure. BO i don't know...
  12. Paramount must be pleased. But remember that Oracle guy was a co-financier, so he must take a big share of the profit.
  13. V: Early BO - The Grey $15-17M | One For The Money $13-15M | Man On A Ledge $6-8M While Open Road's wolf adventure pic "The Grey" is looking on track to win the weekend box office, early Friday B.O. estimates for Lionsgate's "One for the Money" are delivering something of a surprise. Midweek tracking had put Katherine Heigl starrer "One" in the $5 million-$7 million range through Sunday. But Friday afternoon grosses -- boosted in large part by a special from coupon website Groupon -- show the pic angling to rake in between $13 million and $15 million over the weekend frame. "The Grey" is on a pace to take in between $5 million and $6 million on Friday, putting it in line to earn between $15 million and $17 million for the weekend. That means that Summit's "Man on a Ledge" will likely take third place among the trio of openers. Box office observers estimate "Ledge" to earn between $2 million and $2.5 million Friday, positioning the Sam Worthington-toplined action thriller to earn $6 million to $8 million through Sunday. Summit also offered an online deal for "Ledge" through the Living Social site, but tracking as of Friday afternoon doesn't show the pic earning more than data had indicated earlier this week. Meanwhile, Sony Screen Gems' holdover "Underworld: Awakening" is likely to be down by about 60% in its soph sesh, putting the fourth installment in the vampire vs. werewolves franchise in line to earn around $10 million. http://www.variety.c...le/VR1118049401
  14. Maybe Nikki is low balling the numbers for One for the money, so when the actual numbers are higher, she declares it a SUCCESS??!! grasping at straws here...
  15. FRIDAY 2:30 PM UPDATE: Things are starting to pop. Sources are telling me that the No. 1 movie at the North American box office is projected as Open Road Films acquisition of Liam Neeson-starrer The Grey with $5M-$6M for today and $15M-$17M for the weekend from 3,185 locations. Lionsgate’s opener One For The Money starring Katherine Heigl and based on the Janet Evanovich’s bestselling novel is coming on stronger than people thought it would with $4M-5M for today and $12M-$14M for the weekend from 2,737 runs. Summit Entertainment’s new actioner Man On A Ledge with Sam Worthington is looking like $2M-$3M for today and $6M-$7M for the weekend from 2,998 theaters. In other words, weak. No word yet on whether those Groupon/Living Social discounted movie ticket deals are helping the Lionsgate/Summit pics but it did prevent the Marcus Theatre chain from playing One For The Money in the Midwest. Numbers will be refined later with full analysis. http://www.deadline....r-the-money-5m/ V: Early BO - The Grey $15-17M | One For The Money $13-15M | Man On A Ledge $6-8M While Open Road's wolf adventure pic "The Grey" is looking on track to win the weekend box office, early Friday B.O. estimates for Lionsgate's "One for the Money" are delivering something of a surprise.
