    If it holds like BvS and SS did on Sat/Sun despite a drastically smaller preview/OD, then I can't see how any kind of good WOM can possibly be expected. Only holiday it really has is next weekend, Xmas grosses will likely be too small to matter much.

    Debatable if TS3 increased because of 3D (and 3D shares were very high that year). If it did increase, it wasn't by 4m admission. Maybe by like <1m or stayed even.

    I really am curious as to what would have happened without WW being such a success? On one hand, is it really possible that it could have had zero benefit for the OW and on the other is it really possible that it did with the OW we're getting? I mean if so, was JL gonna open to like 55m or something?

    OS better come through for JL or WB could legitimately lose money on it at this point.

    If this opens to low 80's or less, I'm predicting it misses 200.

    Even if both of those defied all odds and both missed 400, I'm still not sure I2 would win. I really think the original adjusted is about as high as it can go if everything goes right. Look at it this way: TS3 and Dory turned out about as good as could have possibly been expected, yet neither managed an admissions increase (or if TS3 did it was very minor).

    So then I'm guessing you're expecting 450+? That's asking for a pretty huge admission increase when the only Pixar sequel to ever have a notable admissions increase was TS2, and not by as much as that would be for Incredibles 2.

    Would have to believe it hits at least 400 OS, but not sure if it will beat Dory OS. The original adjusted (375m) should be the target DOM if marketing and reception deliver. If it's more of an MU level of quality, then maybe something more around 330-340.

    Regardless of individual opinion, what I'm saying is a very large chunk of audiences definitely thought they were shit. You'll never have a movie that everyone agrees is good or bad, so that's irrelevant.

    I mean technically it would be doing mid 70's if it followed BvS/SS, so I can see where he's getting 80 from. But I can't imagine that with such a low OD, should be around 90.

    I have to admit, I can't express how refreshing it is to see audiences actually hold studios responsible for making shit. Complaining about how awful a franchise's quality is and then still showing up on OW for the next one anyways does nothing to make the studio think there's a problem. But that clearly didn't happen this time, glad to see so many who have felt so burned by the likes of MoS/BvS/SS finally said enough is enough with JL and are at least waiting for WOM.

    I can only imagine how thrilled WB must have been when BvS opened so massive, thinking their careless lack of patience and thought was going to payoff with the franchise with such rushed delivery. Then that multi happened.

    I'm kind of starting to agree. They've pimped this trailer in front of a boatload of movies and I must say the audience reaction in my theater always seems to be pretty emphatical with the laughter. Honestly seeing 200+.

    Still betting Solo surprises everyone with how low it goes. Really don't think something like 290 is out of the question if reception is lukewarm.

    I say one A tier character (again, all money on Steve for me), and then a slew of the B tier ones.

    None of the big guns are getting offed except maybe Cap. Actually, I feel like he almost certainly will. Tony will have minor/cameo roles in the films until RDJ dies.

    That trailer makes this look like a gigantic flop to me, and Jackman is pretty much king of box office bombs when he's not playing Wolvie (not to mention Efron). The PG rating really feels like the death knell. Don't think kids will have any desire whatsoever to see this, they should've aimed for more of an older audience.

    Phase 3 has been pretty epic in terms of quality overall. That's why so many expecting this huge underperformance for IW baffles me. Phase 2 was a rough patch for MCU, and they've clearly ironed all that out.

    Honestly, this is about what I expected would happen with JL after SS last year. But WW made me think it would restore some of the damage and pull at least 120. But nope.

    I mean regardless, I know the execution was a million times better than the BvS nonsense since I wasn't overcome with the urge to shout "are you fucking kidding me?" in the theater like Marthagate.
