  1. If it goes below that early 18-19 range, 40 isn't happening this weekend. Sat drop will be big.
  2. I thought you were comparing its quality to Prometheus for a moment and was about ready to throw down lol.
  3. The opening of IDR is the high point, since the (brief) look of alien tech enhanced D.C. Is kinda cool. But that is legit the only thing that comes close to creative or interesting in the film.
  4. IDR really does deserve a spot in the worst blockbusters of all time club. Revenge of the Fallen is honestly more entertaining.
  5. I still don't believe anyone wrote it. It was a computer full of generic movie phrases I tell you.
  6. Well your teacher sounds like they exemplify everything wrong with the American education system...
  7. The next Shrek sequel being a breath of fresh air and wide appealing like the first is what I could really see saving DWA at this point. Which would be fitting, since it's what saved them the first time things looked bad too.
  8. I kind of agree there. At least on the quality front it seems like DWA will become far more "kidified" if Meledandri's work in Illumination is anything to go by. They do tread dangerous waters there by only appealing to a family demo. It can be fine if it looks really appealing to kids like a Minions or Pets, but eventually they will find it harder for their movies to be big hits.
  9. The 3 new openers next week should be pulling around 70-75m combined. Then add Dory and there's plenty for people to see over IDR.
  10. WOM is going to be abysmal, mark my words. Lack of competition won't matter, people are staying far away from IDR once word starts spreading. And 3 new releases isn't exactly a lack of competition anyways, even if none of them are 35m+ openers.
  11. What would hold that record? Cause I'm still not convinced IDR will even hit 45 this weekend. I think the Sat hold will already by abysmal. EDIT: Looks like it's High School Musical 3 with 42m. So yeah, I'd say IDR has a good chance of taking that record.
  12. Yeah, some rough estimates looking at it more in depth would be more like a 78-79% admissions drop. IDR will still top it though. Say it does 90m (i.e. more like 78m without 3d/premium), that would put it right in the 90% area of attendance drop off. 100m still puts it over 85%.
  13. Newsflash: adults have to take kids to movies, so they are still present in a big way in the gross for a family drive film. Pets won't have a significant adult w/o kids demo, and it doesn't need it to hit 300.
  14. In admissions, I think The Sting 2's 99% admissions drop off is the only thing way worse than what ID4 to IDR will be. IDR is headed to an 85%+ tumble. To put that in perspective, even disastrous drop offs like Scream 4 and Alice 2 didn't go above like a 75% decrease in admissions. IDR's admissions drop will be catastrophic.
  15. Look at Deadpool if anyone doesn't believe me about 300m+ hits being possible without even close to 4 quads. That had neither the kid or old demo on its side. It was 90% teen to 40 year old fueled.
  16. Yes it can. You're acting like this is 10+ years ago when 300m was still a mega blockbuster. That line is more like 450m today. Now I agree that level of hit can't happen with the family demo as the only big one, but 300 definitely can.
  17. I say again, Illumination doesn't need an adult audience for their movies to be massive. They have kids totally hooked on their brand of animation, and just like Minions Pets will be carried by that demo to 275+.
  18. I'm not as worried about Beyond now that it looks like a definite improvement over STID. Hopefully it can have WOM and do like 45/150.
  19. The Lost World's highs are the best parts of all the sequels, however JW is a better movie overall. JP3 is just total corny fun. Watch it knowing it's a bad movie and let the camp takeover.
  20. It's not at all though, which is why it will fail so hard. Big spectacle (which was still disappointing itself) doesn't automatically get it into the "good popcorn flick" camp. There's more of an art to it than that.
