Last night Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles earned $4.3M in 3,845 locales; its gross is currently $89.2M and it’s on track to take the top spot at this weekend’s box office. Last night Guardians OfTthe Galaxy pulled in $4.2M in 4,088 spots as it heads to $200M tonight.

with GotG losing hundreds of theaters and TMNT adding 100+, Turtles may squeak out a win, but now Turtles has fell behind GI Joe 1, this will probably be a real close weekend
Captain America 1 fell 60.7% first weekend with average wom, TMNT could be more front loaded than bad wom, but it is probably a bit of both, kiddie audience probably keeping it from ugly Hulk like drop
its bad, but GotG did not face a Wednesday opener last week, over 30% drop is bad though, given that some schools went back in session this week we may need to see weekend numbers to determine legs
is deadline serious there was plenty of reviews for TMNT by Sunday/Monday, with the internet it was easy to see the movie was mediocre at best, I'm shocked there was no embargo to Thursday
