  1. I’m different. Sure, you can appreciate the efforts but appreciation can only go so far when time and time again executions failed. The dudebro approach didn’t really entice me to realize or appreciate any of those said themes either. All comes down to tastes. But hey, like I said, Snyderized Martha/Pa Kent moments in SW would be fun (not for the fans I imagined but I would enjoy it)
  2. Oh yeah, I did remember seeing that in the thread title. That is one for the ages.
  3. At first signs of trouble, Disney fired directors left and right while WB double (triple?) down on Snyder. One can say people do indeed cope with stress differently.
  4. Yeah, don’t think WOM is bad either. But rather just decent, which won’t be enough to fuel the “you gotta go see this” response that TFA got (on top of losing the ‘first SW in 10 years, first SW with original cast in 30+ years’ factor)
  5. In other news, them openers did absolutely amazing. The Greatest Showman, Downsizing and Father Figures made for a trifecta of stunning numbers.
  6. Its PTA is good but difference in TC gonna make it hard for it to catch up. On the other hand, I projected Ragnarok to make 6-7M more at best, so with JL grossing closer and closer to Ragnarok’s numbers daily, don’t see it make much more than 7M either. Over/under Doctor Strange will be close.
  7. I’m of the opinion that the movie is decent, nothing daringly amazing yet not a childhood killer either. I’m no casual audience but I imagine that’s gotta be the general consensus base of numbers so far The Force Awakens has that gigantic novelty factor that lead people to rush out to see it (granted, it also has very good legs). TLJ doesn’t have that novelty anymore so maybe people just wait to see it at their pace. We’ll see how the next 2 weeks or so shape up.
  8. That’s some disparity between critics and audience. But good to hear it’s getting favorable response from audience. From what I see online, Hugh Jackman is pretty popular in SK. Les Mis did great over there. Was a bit surprised Logan didn’t do better. Wow, crazy! Which movie is holding that record right now? It it The Admiral or Roaring Currents?
  9. That’s some crazy increases for Coco and Paddington. I’m glad about Coco’s China performance cause its domestic is not that good right now.
  10. That’s quite a difference between Rth and Deadline numbers for TLJ. All the other numbers show up/down trends compare to late afternoon Deadline estimates, except for Downsizing, locking down that 2.3M figure throughout the whole day. Talk about consistency and staying power. Impressive.
  11. Woo boy. Be ready for them very deep, dark Pa Kent/Martha themes in Star Wars, @Chewy. You asked for it. Now that I said that, I do kinda want to see it.
  12. Check my edited post. You know Taika would would want me to spread the Christmas cheer.
  13. Hmm, that’s kinda sad for Justice League. In the spirit of Christmas, I’m changing my vote then (until some poor folks take my place to vote for it)
  14. In before the lock. Thor easily. Wonder Woman and Logan about the same. Both are good. The rest each has some bright spots but are otherwise, whatever movies.
  15. When you have to put his singing in quotation marks, do you really need my take on it lol. But since you asked. Splendid! Wonderful! Wouldn’t change it for anything. I hope he’ll have a duet with Cher this time around.
  16. Mamma Mia is one of my guilty pleasure movies. And Amanda Seyfried is one of my Hollywood girl crushes (well, not enough to get me to watch Love the Coopers, but still, girl crush) Lily James and Colin Firth are also pluses. This looks to be a fun time at theater for a GNO.
