  2. LMAO.Stupid premise, stupid allegory, stupid film.D
  3. It doesn't always work, and I was on my way to hating this, but about a half hour in it finds its humor and style and proves to be a pretty damn good film.I'm not sure how to explain it, but there is a distinct style to the movie. I thought it was hilarious at times and a pretty fun and unique watch overall.B+
  4. It lacks any kind of real depth, but the visuals and characters are enough to entertain. I'm pretty sure I won't remember a damn thing about this film in a week, but in the end, who cares?B-
  5. Works more as an study and analysis on human behavior rather than a film.Still, perhaps I'm jaded with a law degree, but just how dense is the average person? Scary stuff.
  6. It's quite simply a masterpiece in suspense and features one of the best film scores of all time. An objective horror masterpiece, across the board.
  7. Over-analyzing a film like this.....really?Depressing as fuck, IMO.
  8. Perhaps my favorite Woody film.Realistic and relatable, I have a hard time believing anyone can't find something or someone they relate to in the film. Somewhat depressing now when you realize this is what a "romantic comedy" used to be. Some of the most romantic scenes and shots ever put to film, IMO."I just don't want that thing I liked about you to change."B+
  9. Is there a more disposable poster on this site than Squaremaster? Hell fucking no, IMO.
  10. A little minor shifting. How a film stands up over time is always one of the best indicators as to how good it really is. 1. Stoker 2. Spring Breakers 3. Mud 4. Prisoners 5. You're Next 6. 11. An American classic. As usual, gorgeous with an amazing score.Up there with Malick's best and his most human work.A-
  12. In the end, outside of some gorgeous camera shots this film just isn't very memorable. Bullock's story arc meant nothing to me, and the child death just came across as a plot device to make you care when you otherwise wouldn't have.IMO.
  13. It's a good film with stunning visuals, but to be honest it's overhyped and what little emotion it had I found to be contrived.Good, not great, and nowhere near a masterpiece.Boom.
  14. Anyone else reminded of Silence of the Lambs?I fucking loved it. For me, there's nothing quite like a slow-burning character-driven crime drama heavy on tone and atmosphere with a heavy dose of macabre thrown in.Exceptional, my favorite of the year.Edit: In hindsight and after a night of sleep I realize I may have jumped the gun proclaiming this best of the year (Stoker remains king), but this is still a damn good film with smothering atmosphere.

  16. 1. Suspiria Nothing else really matters, IMO. One of the most visceral and visually orgasmic films ever made.
  17. Pretty good film. It has a goofy charm that pervades throughout, and is pretty funny. I do think it suffers from some pacing issues at the outset, but it gets better over time. The last hour is damn good. B
  18. Ehhh, I think you're missing the point here. This wasn't really about morality and business ethics, but rather an in-depth character study into a master manipulator who will do whatever it takes to save himself. This was hinted at early on in the film when he leaves his birthday party and wife and we learn that he's having an affair. He even says something like "You think I wouldn't of rather been here?" Everything Gere does in this film is to promote his own agenda, he wasn't really trying to achieve an end goal for a greater good. He had no problem putting that kid in a situation that very easily could have ruined his life. One of the best scenes of the movie was when Gere and the kid were talking at the table and he asks Gere "Why would you put me in this situation?" Very good film. B+
  19. The lengths people go to to analyze superhero films amaze me.These aren't philosophical films with great depth guys, TDK trilogy included.IMO.
  20. A little disappointing in that it wasn't as funny as I expected going in. Perhaps just a case of high expectations leading to a downfall, but I felt it was a little inconsistent and absolutely a little overlong. It's a clever film, but it just didn't deliver the proportion of laughs I was expecting going in. However, the "rape" scene, Danny McBride, and the final 20 minutes were awesome. B+/B
  21. "I did it for me."Best line of the series in so many ways. Killer show.
  22. I found this to be enjoyable. It may take a little too long to reach the crux of the story, but in the end it has its own style and vision and offers just enough insight into modern relationships. The kind of film where you can turn off your brain, have a good time, and not feel guilty for doing so.B
  23. It's completely and utterly ridiculous, and has all the depth of a hole dug into concrete with a plastic fork. It also moves in such a fashion that it makes you think everyone involved was taking coke bumps every half hour, more back-story into both the characters and story itself is need here. That being said, I'll be damned if I wasn't entertained and found it to be a fun watch. C+
