  1. There's nothing really wrong with it. There's some really good acting, but in the end the film doesn't really amount to anything of substance. In the end this shouldn't even sniff a BP nom, although it likely will.IMO.
  2. American Hustle is the most disappointing film of the year (strictly speaking in terms of quality).
  3. After sleeping on it the grade is actually more of a B/B-. It's actually a very slight film that doesn't really leave any kind of impact. A couple of times in the film you feel like it's about to get going, but never really does.Good film, but sadly somewhat shallow and forgettable.
  4. It's a lot different than I expected going in. I'm going to say right off any BP talk is an outright joke. This is an uneven film that really could have used some depth. That being said, it's still a good film with good performances. You do definitely feel the length though. In the end, I'd describe this as a silly, fun, and funny film with great acting and good dialogue. Nothing more, nothing less. I prefer both The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook.B+/B
  5. Drinking some brewskies and seeing this in an hour's time.Hustled as fuck.IMO.
  6. I thought this was a pretty fantastic directing debut for Brandon Cronenberg. It's the kind of film where some small story deficiencies are easily forgiven with a vision and style as confident as what is displayed on screen, especially for a first-time director. Recommended for any film fans who enjoy moody and surreal viewing experiences. I felt a review on IMDB summed up the film in perfect fashion: "Antiviral is the type of raw, debut movie that ten years from now will still be a movie people appreciate and recommend to people who like good movies." B+
  7. Antiviral (2012). Is the date of release based on the date it's first shown at a festival, or shown for viewing in a city? This was shown at one festival in 2012 and was released in a few small theaters in 2013.
  8. A potential Gopher/Numbers debate is more intriguing than the film itself. Let the ego games begin.IMO.
  9. Damn good film.Doesn't really do anything exceptional, but the strong story coupled with the performances are more than enough to carry the film. McConaughey is fantastic in this. One of my faves of the year.A-/B+
  10. The majority of my posts tend to be of the tongue-in-cheek variety.
  11. Only pansies and women think the action wasn't awesome in this. I'm far from a shallow film critic but the action in this is good enough to make up for the weakness of the script. It's all about the spectacle.IMO.
  12. CF is crashing harder than a 80-pound meth addict off a 3-day binge whose been taking crack hits for extra bumps. IMO.
  13. 1. Stoker 2. Spring Breakers 3. Mud 4. Prisoners 5. 12 Years a Slave 6. You're Next 7. Pacific Rim 8. The Place Beyond the Pines 9. Side Effects 10. Europa Report 11. Gravity 12. 14. All the "best animated film since The Lion King" is overstated, but this is a very good animated film. The songs honestly fell flat to me (although Let It Go is good) but the story here is very strong. I liked the little twist that the sister's bond was the saving grace in the film and not "true love's first kiss."It's a fun time at the movies although I still think Tangled was slightly better.B+/B
  15. Post all Super Bowl predictions here. Include playoff team predictions, game-by-game analysis, and stat leaders as well.IMO.
  16. Very impressive sci-fi flick. Even with the small budget, film looks very sharp visually and has a great story centered on the age-old question of are we alone in the universe.Recommended to all fans of the genre, holds up very well to a film like Gravity despite receiving a tenth of the accolades and hype. A shame.B+/B
  17. It may not have much of a personality, but dear God the action scenes in this are simply ridiculous. It's just a lot of fun.The kind of film that won't be an all-time favorite, but you'll buy the Blu-ray knowing it'll always be a fun watch.B+/B
  18. I'm gonna be honest here....the coming of age aspect of this film fell flat. I didn't really give a rat's ass about Duncan, and thought Liam James gave a poor performance.Ironically, the fact that the film was unfocused regarding the story's core (Duncan) was likely the reason I still liked this. I enjoyed all the other aspects of the film, with notable stand-outs being Sam Rockwell and AnnaSophia Robb. It's nothing that hasn't been done before and doesn't re-invent the wheel, but AnnaSophia is hot as fuck (I checked, she's 19), and it has an innate charm that pervades throughout the film.B/B-
  19. We should learn to treat holiday films such as CF much in the way that individuals that use steroids are treated. Sure, it's all flashy and looks appealing as fuck at the outset, but in the end you're left with depression, wrinkly skin, and suicidal thoughts. Let the demise of CF begin. IMO.
  20. Not surprising considering you are from France.........the rightful birth place of pansies everywhere. IMO.
